Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

used to be...

I would "slightly" overload a washer, 6 pairs of jeans, a weeks worth of towels, ect...in single loads...

I don't consider myself a washing machine abuser by any means. I just wasn't "inspired" by my old washer either.

This Maytag is different, worth its weight in gold to me, I'd never think of overloading it.
Now its:
no more than 4 pairs of jeans at once
5 towels at once(usually makes for 1 1/2 loads of towels a week)
I'd rather do multiple washes than risk ruining the machine!

What year and model is your Maytag, Jeff? You are wise to give it tender loving care. Most of my loads are more moderate in size, but my towel loads tend to be gigantic. I usually wash towels in my front-loader using the Oxi-Clean detergent ball. That produces no suds so I don't have to use fabric softener to break down lingering suds in the final rinse. I have very soft water and no matter how many extra rinses I select, there's always some lingering suds in the final rinse of towel loads if I don't use softener. Plus, the FL'er spins twice as fast as my TL'er, so they aren't in the dryer as long. But I felt like changing things up a bit that day.

I was gifted a couple bags of Ace Acti-Blu from AW member Venus. The stuff smells great. Makes me long for Key Lime Pie and Gin & Tonics, LOL. I can get Ariel (my favorite detergent after Tide Coldwater) and Viva (super sudsy!) at the Mexican grocery store in a nearby town, but they don't carry Ace. Venus was kind enough to send me a stockpile of it.
