Wasn't aware WH offered a gas dryer this early on.
The first W gas dryer was in 1964, when they went to the flat front design.
Jerry thanks. I thought it was more in the time frame you stated--close to when GE finally announced their own gas dryer too.
Looks like a '53 or '54. It probably has the end-of-cycle musical chime!

Question anyone - would the washer that matches have a scale to weigh the clothes on this year(?)..as seen in this commercial?

I believe this is the lower end model without the chime. If you look at the knob on the right side it is a fake. On the higher end model this was a pull to start knob. The washer would have had a weight-to-save door.

Someone probably thinks that this is a gas dryer because it has a 120 volt cord on it--set up for 120 volt drying.

It's a lower end 1953 model. You can tell by the glass, as the 54 had a pointed window. I have a 54 washer and a 53 dryer. I look forward to the day we get a decent boot substitute for the laundromat!
