I got this "beauty" for free, and it works like a charm, but as you can see, it's pretty skanky looking. I was able to clean a lot of this up already, but I'm afraid of that rust on the freezer door. Should I just tough it up and scrub it off with some steel wool? If so, how can I repaint it?

Re: Rusty Freezer Door:

Hi! Dan, I would think that after you get as much of the Rust off the Freezer Door, as with the rest of the Cabinet, you would be able to use a Rust-Preventative Primer Paint, then Appliance Paint for the final Finish.

You might however want to wait until after the weekend, when everyone will be back home from the Convention, to see what others might think of how to remedy that problem.

Good Luck, with getting it worked out, let us all know your progress and to see the finshed product.

Peace and Enjoy your Whirlpool Bottom Freezer-Fridge, Steve

Navel Jelly

Neutralizes the rust after being on for about 10 minutes. Make sure your rinse well and it will be ready for painting after an application of that.

Naval Jelly is a great timesaver you may not have as much sanding to do if you do this as a first step. I used that to refinish the wheels on my Mom's bicycle and found there was very little pitting once the NV did it's work
