Don't give up on Clorox, Eugene

When you need it, there is nothing quite like it. Those faint shades would vanish. I forgot who or what won the last contest. Would you post a summary, Buddy? And have you done any tests using Clorox?

Hi Mickeyd--- In fact, all of the detergent test towels are kept in a zip-lock bag in my linen closet. The winner of the tests so far has been SA8, followed by Persil, then Tide With Bleach.

Comparisons of the SA8 towel and the SA8+All-Fabric Bleach+Tri-Zyme show that SA8 alone actually did a slightly better job on the mustard and ketchup! This may have been caused by the fact that I used an older towel for the most recent test, which has fewer fibers to shed. The rest of the test load came out brilliantly, including a particularly nasty grass stain that eluded a prior wash in SA8+LCB. Most impressive was the very old, greyed, white chef's apron that had obviously been lightened a shade or two, despite many, many washes in SA8+LCB over the past year.

The next step is to test the Quixtar All-Fabric Bleach and Tri-Zyme with one of the poorer-testing detergents (Sam's Club bulk, for instance) to see how much punch they add to a second-tier performer.

In reviewing the towels from prior tests, it seems mustard is the toughest stain to remove.

When time permits, I'll reshoot all the test towels and post photos of them in order of performance.

Someone at AW really likes (Mexican) Viva, so I may test that detergent, too.

Good thing I have a ridiculous number of flour-sack dish towels!

:)

They are products from Quixtar (formerly known as Amway). They can only be purchased either by their sales reps, or online---which is my preference.

Here's a link to the Laundry Products page. The bleaches and boosters are listed separately from the detergents in the column on the left.

If you decide to order, you'll need to register with the company, which is simple; You get an ID number and establish a password. The service is quick; most things are in stock and shipped within 24 hours.

Answer NO to questions in the registration process such as "would you like to be contacted by a sales associate?" (or whatever they call them) and "would you like to become a sales associate?" and you'll be left alone. No one has ever tried to contact me, nor have they sent any literature via snail- or e-mail.

Having said that, some people (including me) have ethical issues with Quixtar. Its top executives and general operating philosophy are decidedly conservative right wing.

SA8 With Bioquest

Hi Frigilux,
I love SA8 with Bioquest, it’s simply the best performing detergent I have ever used. How do you find it for rinsing? I find it rinses out better than any other detergent; the first rinse water is always clear for me. How do you like the scent? I think it’s really nice kind of old fashioned, clean, fresh and light.

I have the All Fabric Bleach, Tri-Zyme and Fabric Softener. I have only used the Try-Zyme a couple of times but I do use the All Fabric Bleach on a boil wash. The SA8 cleans so well on its own there is little need for the additives. The Softener is very good on towels as it softens well and does not affect the absorbency.

Hi David--- Yes, SA8 rinses well, even in my very soft water. And at the end of a cycle the clothes don't really smell like detergent; they just smell 'clean'. An order of their fabric softener and dishwasher detergent are on the way. Can't wait to try them.

My two cents worth.........

Hey There, Way back in the 80's I became an Amway distributor. Not as a career but to buy their products at cost because I believed they were very good. I didn't stay a distributor long but have purchased their products ever since as I find them to be superior to what is on the market. Here is what I have found:

Dishwasher detergent-very very good. I don't usually buy it because I think store bought brands do an equally good job. Clean dishes are clean, they are not like a white load of laundry where you can easily measure what detergents clean better. Be sure if you buy the dishwasher detergent you order the hard water or soft water formula, detpening on your water. That is important as they are formulated different and will perform poorly if mixed up.

Trizyme-For many years I have soaked my whites in this overnight before I wash them. I do drain the soak water and start with hot water and SA8. Before Trizyme I remember using chorline bleach and water to soak in. When doing that, I would pull up white athletic socks to have them tear in half because the fibers had rotted from the bleach. (maybe overnight in bleach water wasn't a good idea???) Two former roomates still boast that they never had whiter whites than when they lived at my house. I still have a white sweat shirt from Disney World, 7 years old that still gets rave remarks from the folks I went there with because theirs was grey and yellowed years ago. (we bought the same one) I love this product!

All Fabric Bleach-I have tried this twice, didn't really notice a difference because SA8 cleans so well that you don't need it.

Cholrine Bleach-I alwasys keep some of this around because it is powder and I like the ease of it. I don't use bleach too much as the other products clean very well without the stress on the fibers.

Fabric Softener-Originally it was white and I bought it all the time. In those days I had a downy ball and no matter what, it wouldn't stain. It had a light refreshing scent as well. One time I bought it and it was blue as they reformulated it to be competitive with what was on the market. Although a good product, I don't think it is any better than downy and when it turned blue I switched.

Dish Drops-I do like these. They don't clean any better than
Dawn or Ivory, but they have a very nice smell and has Aloe Vera in the detergent. Very clean fragerence.

SA8 Delicate- No better than Woolite.

SA8-Simply the best!

I know just the word "Amway" stirs up people easily. Pyramids, Christian's and Family Values are buzz words that I often hear associated with the organization. It all may be true but I am only interested in the organization for what I feel are the best laundry products available. If you want to wash your sins away or your dirty clothes, that is your business!

For what it is worth

I have used SA* bioquest and the AFB for several years now on smaller loads , Nusery . Kitchen work and left overs from the big washers .. Have always found it to do a VERY good job on heavy soil work.. Quixar is just a name Amway came up with to hide their tattered underwear.. I still hate the way the do their sales and cult like stuff. But products are generally good.. They have tried to get me to attend and 'sell more' and even threatned to cut me off.. If I did not sale.. all talk they would not cut the 300 or so that is spent with them ever mo.. They dont like it when you stand up to them though..
