It is supposed to close on Wednesday. So many memories here, and also where I first learned about mid century homes and the period in general.

Looks like they might have been having trouble with the oven staying closed. There's a clip and wingnut setup in the middle above the handle.

I used to hate that kitchen until we de-70sified it back in 2008. The cabinets used to be green, which kinda turned some radioactive puke color from the nicotine, it had fluourescent lights behind one of those clear plastic drop ceilings that had turned brown, and the linoleum floor was very worn.
I'm gonna see if I can find any old photos of it from when it wasn't all gross. I know there's a picture of my grandma standing by the oven from 1976. Oh and there used to be a matching coppertone KDS-17 dishwasher. Somebody through it out during the remodel... Still pissed about that.

Here's the rest of the house.

Oh and there used to be a coppertone KDS-17...someone threw it out when the house was being remodeled, still pissed about that.

The sale on the house closed today. End of an era. I'm heartbroken that I couldn't take the built in appliances with. I'll probably go by there every garbage night to see if they put them out there. I personally think that two tone Coppertone Caloric wall oven was one of if not the best looking wall oven of that era.

Contact the buyers

Can you contact the buyers and ask them to let you know if they decide to remodel so you can buy the appliances from them?  Hopefully they would say to just take them for free but at least you'd plant the seed that they could call you before they dispose of them.

I have a friend who isn't at all shy about that.  I have known him to look at an Open House, discover some vintage piece he wanted and then to ask the Realtor to notify the buyers that he would want them if possible.  If the Realtor didn't seem willing he'd wait until closing day and knock on the door.  LOL

It's funny too he's normally a kind of reserved guy but when he has his eye on a vintage piece nothing stops him.
