Just a reminder to all who have frostless fridges, in particular side by sides, to check the drain hole in the bottom of the freezer once in a while.
Last night I was looking through the freezer on my fairly new KA SxS and pulled out the bottom basket to retrieve an item that had fallen through a gap at the rear of a shelf above. I noticed something round and pink nearly covering the drain hole under the evaporator so I removed the basket completely to get a better look. As I reached to see what the pink item was, I noticed the beginnings of an accumulation of ice from water that was not making it to the drain. The pink item turned out to be an upside down dayglow red-orange sticker, probably off of a loaf of bread, that read "promotional price." How it managed to drop and then go sideways into the drain trough I'll never know, but it would have only been a matter of time before we had a glacier forming in there. On another SxS fridge several years ago I found a single frozen pea blocking its drain.
So to all AW members who own a SxS fridge, next time you're fishing something out from the bottom rack of the freezer, take a quick look and make sure there are no foreign objects in the defrost water drain. It could save you some grief with a false alarm that looks like a major problem.
