Well we haven't had a coffeemaker thread in for sometime so I thought I would share my two newest addtions to the collection. When Rick,(Crevicetool was here for a visit in October I was showing him my coffeemaker collection. He asked where the Universals were. I told him that is one brand that I had never found. Well much to my surprise and pleasure on Wednesday a big box arrived from Rick. Inside were two beautiful Universal coffeemakers!! The one on the left even came with its orginal box. The one on the right is what I consider to be the most elegant electric coffeemaker ever made. Not only is it beautiful on the outside it equally as pretty on the inside. I know some of you have this coffeemaker as well and I had been wanting one for a long time! Thanks so much Rick!!

being italian, I can't help ... LOL

Here are various sizes (1-2-4-6 cups) of the traditional Moka pot to be used on the range. These ones are true Bialetti

A fast brewed coffee is nasty, so always set the range on low heat (low flame if gas one, look out for the handle catching fire......). Remember you put it on the range and wait for the "gurgle" saying it's time to take away from fire, otherwise the rubber seal will burn and stink badly. Stir before pouring into cups
Usually the one or two cups pots brew better, cause are the most used ones.

Keep far away from dishwashers and handwashing detergents. Just HANDWASH the outside scrubbing with a bit of baking soda and hot water.

In extreme need, internal wash has to be strictly done with baking soda only. Don't dare to drink any coffee brewed from a just-washed-inside pot, it tastes as bad as poison. Brew several "waste" coffees to restore the pot

(Tips based on true-life experiences *LOL*)

the stylish ones from Alessi

these La Cupola series look nice as La Conica, but some other Alessi series look really ugly !!

Neapolitan coffee pot

basically it is a gravity percolator. When the water boils, one has to switch off the fire and to turn upside down the pot and wait for percolation end.

The very surprising fact is : given a coffee blend, it will taste 3 very different ways if brewed with a moka pot / neapolitan pot / espresso machine

thanks

Now it's 6:10 am here. The little "dome" will be on the range @ 7:30
and the day 'll start after drinking a couple of cups ...

I have a stainless steel

Bialetti which works great on my induction plate but nothing comes close to putting the ancient aluminium (still shiny after 26 years - you treat it like a cast iron skillet) for a wonderful cup of mocca.

I find the form of the pot on the right to be just about as close to perfect as you can get. Wow! Beautiful! What a wonderful gift!

Favorit, thanks for sharing those beautiful coffeemakers with us!
Robert and Louis, thanks, I think it is really a stunning coffeemaker too!
Louis I usually us whole bean 8 O'clock and grind fresh daily.

Pointy Perc

Sunbeam redisgned their appliance line in the mid 60's. In chrome they featured one that was potbellied, a tall decanter with a round handle and this diminutive percolator. They all make delicious brew and have proved to be very dependable.

neapolitan flip pot

Hi Ken,
while one can find mokas everywhere, neapolitans are less common. Here is some link I've found

a shop in Florence:

a company based in Ohio:

At first sight the Florence shop seems cheaper.
They sell the ILSA 3 cups neapolitan for 19.69 euro = 30 USD while espressozone@OH sells the very same item for 47.95 USD.
IMHO you'd better check shipping conditions of both companies

Alessi e-shop

Sit down ... the 6 cups moka La Cupola costs 90 USD , their 6 cups napolitaner cost *fourhundredstwentyfive* USD ... they are mad !

Cub that might of been a venue to promote maxwell house, either at a trade show or a complimentary cup at a grocery store. alr2903
