I was down at Bigg's this week and noticed that kosher for Passover Coke Classic with the yellow cap in 2-liter bottles is in stock. It's made with sugar as opposed to high fructose corn syrup.

It's a refreshing, even if only temporary, change from the regular stuff,
Dave

Hey Dave, does it come in smaller bottles or cans? I have to watch my caffeine intake since my heart attack, and a 2 liter would be too much. I'm not supposed to have more than one 12oz. can per day. I bought some Dr. Pepper with sugar about a month ago, and it tastes like I remember from long ago.

go mexican!

In our ethnic aisle we have Coke with cane sugar in the 16 oz glass bottles. Pricey, at $1.49 each, but the glass is recyclable and oh, that real Coca-Cola taste. My weekly treat to myself. I do believe most larger groceries carry it now, it comes in through the Kehe distributor.

Pepsi with sugar -- labled as Pepsi Classic -- has been available for a while. I love the stuff!

You think soft drink makers are trying to cash in on the anti-fructose corn syrup movement?

Yay for Coke with real sugar! Too bad there are probably fewer than five Jewish people within a 50 mile radius of where I live, so I don't think Passover Coke will be making an appearance in the area markets.

I can buy Mexican Coke, but it's a pricey $1.39 per 12-oz. bottle at the Hy-Vee grocery store in Worthington.

How about buying a two liter bottle and dispensing out only 8 oz/ 230ml per day?

:-)

The MexiCoke we get out here in the traditionally looking glass bottles is 12 oz, not 16 oz. Still a lot of coke.

I've also sampled Jarritos Tamarind and Nuestra Sangria sodas, also in glass bottles. The Tamarind is interesting an relatively low calorie (about 110). The Sangria is high calorie (about 180). Both have natural sugar not HF corn syrup.

I seem to recall, however, that the Sangria soda I tasted in Mexico over 20 years ago was a bit tastier.

And if you don't have a Costco in your area, selected Sam's carries Mexican Coke by the case as well. It's about $18.00 for 24 bottles.
Strangely enough the Sam's located in a more working class neighborhood has it while the Sam's in a nearby local upper class neighborhood doesn't.
