Can someone suggest a source of replacement gaskets for this vintage side by side? There is an "04" on the label inside refer door, and "15" mentioned on the door front.

Thanks in advance.
Kate

Can you tell me where I would find them? There is a large label with stats inside the door behind top shelf, but the only number mentioned is a "part number", more likely for the label than the refer, I should think.
Many thanks...
Kate

If I remember right the Coldspot that we had when I was a kid had a metal tag with that information on it and it was located on the bottom front behind the cover for the coils.

Sounds like an early 70's fridge with the "Supermart" designation. I haven't seen many of that vintage in the used appliance stores. You may have to settle for an after-market type of gasket material if you can't repair what you have. I have a Whirlpool top freezer model of similar vintage and it has a section of gasketing that was repaired using what appears to be some sort of caulking material. It was like that when I got it cheap nearly 20 years ago and has held up fine.

I found them! The model number is 106 6690400
The next series, presumably serial, is 8K259629
Then we have a 6.8 followed by a 20... perhaps capacities?
Below the rivet is an 870

The most noticeable need is a gasket for the refer door, especially along the bottom.

Do we have any of you knowledgeable people in Silicon Valley?

Hey Kate, don't look at me, I just live here!

I think connecting with "goatfarmer" (Kenny, right?) would be your best bet.

If you can post a picture of the bad gasket there may be some suggestions for repairing rather than replacing, but don't quote me on that. Those Supermarts and other Coldspot/Whirlpool fridges from that era tend to run forever and are worth fixing if it can be done cheaply, but they are definitely energy hogs so fixing the gasket will help.

Thank you, All. My next door neighbor is from South Bend, and good friend from Crown Point. Ralph, I don't recognize your aerial view... San Jose? There are, of course, those who think Palo Alto might be the capital...

The cut-and-splice method sounds like my best, perhaps only, alternative. I believe the bottom row is attached at one end, sort of. I might even have to miter a corner and continue up a few inches.

Thank you again, and I'll be looking for gasket material... which is thick enough, but not too thick.

Kate, yes that is DT SJ looking from the southeast to northwest, with the I-280 and SR 87 interchange in the foreground. Looks like it was a nice spring day with a very greened up Mission Peak in the background.

The Capital reference isn't a claim I'm making. Well, making fun of, maybe.

Screen Name

Hey Lawrence, not familiar with Circle W Broadcasting. Was it a Westinghouse division, perhaps a predecessor to Group W Broadcasting? I chose my screen name because it was the Westinghouse logo during the 50's when my favorite vintage appliance - my 1953 range - was made.

I never thought about "circle W" but am now recalling that our '49 Westy fridge had one in its badging but the '49 Westy stove didn't. Or is my memory not serving me correctly?

I've always wondered why they used a lower case "n" in their logo. Did it just look better aesthetically or what?
