Hello Everyone!

Recently I've been starting the search for repair and refurbishment parts for some of my machines, since I know eventually they will wear down and start to have issues pop up here and there. I'd like to get ahead of the curve and start getting together what parts I can find now, so Im prepared for later. I know for most belt drives, it's recommended to replace the center post seals and bearings, as well as the spin tube while the transmission is out for service. However, I'm not sure if there is anything else relating to BD machines, as well as the Maytag Helical machines I have, that I should look for that are common failure points. If anybody has a list or suggestions for parts that may be worth acquiring now, please let me know!

Hi Henry, it’s definitely a good idea to stash a few parts for your vintage machines. I’ll add that I try to keep a NOS timer for a lot of the machines in my collection. Without a working timer these machines are dead in the water.
