Cool old RadioShack combo in reply 36-i have a couple slightly newer Clarinets-both have lost their original speakers. For 8-track tapes,i have loads of those-these tapes usually need repair after 4-5 decades: Foam pressure pads crumble, felt ones come off,Tape splice/track switch foil falls off...I think 8-track tapes started about 1966,but did not really take off until about 1968,were still sold in stores through 1982,certain titles avalible through record clubs until 1988=I have a Randy Travis from '88 :) Last new 8-Track i bought was Steve Miller Abracadabra-in '82 -wore that one out-need to look for another. I have seen experimental endless loop cartridges from 1959 that were very close to what came out ~1966 :)

Was given a Sears combo yesterday-1985,so a little out of thread timeframe and mid-80s style: cube shape, dual cassette, equalizer, slide controls for everything.Interesting part is it said "BSR" on the turntable-on top and on red sticker under-Taiwan made after "real" BSR went belly-up,Total BPC with little DC cassette player motor :) Will do listen test when giver brings the speakers :)

Yes, many original manufacturers have had their products copied as "knock-offs" by Asian factories.
