Come on-it's supposed to be spring already

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

As much as I truly LOVE winter and all that comes with it(freezing temps, snow storms) I am ready for spring, I am ready to start working in the garden, time for the potatoes and beets to go in and can't wait to put in string beans and tomatoes, I love gardening and canning, if you haven't noticed yet, I am ready for the strawberries and then the black raspberries and sour cherries for pies and jams. And of course the nice weather which will mean flea markets and garage sales every weekend.

Spring has Sprung...

Well Spring has sprung down here in Texas. Even the Mesquite trees are budding (which is about a 99% bulletproof way of knowing there's no more freezes ahead) and we had our first spring squall today. Gotta love rain! So far in the first 3 months of this year, we've had more rain than in the past 14 months combined! Here's to hoping it's going to be a rainy year......we need it bad!

We had the rain last year. We had the most rainfall last summer than there had been since they started recording. Now it's so dry they say that the wheat is shot if we don't get rain fast. I'm just worried if we get up to 15 inches of snow on trees that are already leafed out, and roses that are already budding--what's it going to do to them.

Should I cover the roses and Lillac bushes, or let them fend for themselves?

Well here in Michigan it's been in the 50's, 50's and even 70's the last few weeks. Everything is starting to bud out easily a month early. 15 day forecast has more 50 and 60 degree weather. Weird, we usually have lots of snow in March and even April but apparently not this year.

We have had 70's, 80's and even a 90's day this year already. I guess this is just a freak storm that is coming through. They are telling us that parts of KS will have 29 inches, with South Central, where Wichita is, will end up with about 16 by the time it's finished tomorrow.

Spring, please get here!

We could get up to 3 inches of snow here this weekend. I notice yesterday that my tulips are coming up. I can't wait for my Lilac bush to bloom!

It is freezing rain and sleeting here now. Now newscasters say we will have up to 9-16 inches. It think this is his way of saying, "I don't know what it's going to do."

Well it looks like we might get the tail end of this storm on Sunday. We are expecting rain and some snow but at this point no accumulation.

It's been really weird as I mentioned. Willow tree is all budded out, as are many other trees and bushes - easily a month early. I have 90% of the lawn raked too, a first! Got close to 35 paper bags of leaves and grass sitting on the patio since they don't pick up yard waste until the week of April 6th, and then only 10 at a time.

Supposed to be more seasonal next week, 40s and 50s for the most part. Glad we haven't had any of the 80s or 90s -yet.

Out here spring has arrived. Weather in the 70's. The daffodils and narcissus are in full bloom. The early hybrid magnolia have already flowered and gone. The wisteria is showing some color, and the rosebuds are starting to take shape. The flowering crabapple has a full house of honeybees taking advantage of the early feast.

But... I started a new job two weeks ago. This last week I was out sick for two days... still coughing and hacking with whatever late winter malady has been going around. The back yard is a mess and needs to have all of last year's veggies and supports removed, earth tilled, fresh compost worked in, etc... before the weeds take over. It almost makes me miss being unemployed, but I really prefer working. It also helps pay the bills.

Starting at 1 pm central time we will be under a winter storm warning 4-6 inches of snow predicted. Then 40's tomorrow and 50's on Monday.

I left New York City in 1997 to get away from the cold.
Here in Tucson, Az., at least we seldom get snow but in the winter it goes below freezing at night. Still chilly at night here and early in the morning. I too am looking forward to summer.
I do not believe we have global warming, but maybe global cooling. Many scientists say that climate goes in cycles.

Well we got a dusting of snow from the storm that hit Kansas. Maybe a 1/2" or so, odds are it will be gone by mid morning. Odds are it will be the last for the season that started out with record snow and tapered off to nothing.

Spring

isn't that the long, coiled steel thing-y which holds my washer tub upright on both sides?

Can't recall any other meaning for the word, at least not in current English use...

Sigh.

Here in Munich, everyone assures me it sprung while I was gone than decided to go back to sleep. I think they're lying. I firmly believe we already had summer and this is late fall and it just going to get worse...boy did I oversleep.

Well it's over

We got 7 inches officially here in ICT. Other parts of KS, Dodge City for instance, got 29 inches.
Most of ours is gone already. It was a freak storm, but kind of fun for the weekend. I did Christmas like things. I baked cininimon rolls and stayed in the house.
