While visiting one of the vac places here-the ownwer said he was discontinuing carrying commercial vacs.got a good price on three machines-A Sanitaire 880 with the dump bin,A ProVac backpack vacuum ,and a "Maid Lite"commercial vac.the Maid saver is essentially a chinse copy of an Oreck-works quite well.The Backpac machine is kinda fun-very power ful-has a bag system like a Compact-Tristar vac.A cloth bag with a paper bag insert.It holds more than a TriStar.the machine came with two packs of bags and an extra cloth bag.the Provac folks recommned the backpack machine for restaurant and food service cleaning.It came with three hand tools,a wand,and a bare floor tool and a carpet tool.the unit has good suction and air movement-was kinda fun to use in dusting the house.These are also used for office cleaning.the Eureka machine is neat as well-set it to its highest height-its brushroll REALLY shakes the carpet.Got some sand out of it.The dealer now only wantsd to carry home type machines-I did comment to him that the restuarant chains and other store chains usually order their vacs and other cleaning equipment thru their headquarters or other suppliers.Another good thing about ProVac backpacks-the cord on it is a standard 3 pin extension cord-if you wear it out you can get a replacement anywhere.It came with a 50Ft cord-just as good or better than a central vac-for house cleaning-just plug it into a center outlet in the home and roam anywhere you need to vacuum.I just couldn't resist when he offered the machines.I also have a Royal Backpack machine.got that from the other dealer when he dropped carrying commercial vacs.Now if I could adapt my NSS powernozzle to the backpack--.May be fun to try it.

Bet it wasnt as good a price as my UK model(Electrolux) Zc880 was! cost me £40 inc shipping from Ebay- it needed a slight wiring mod tho
£40 is about $70 odd, mines the paper bag version. Performance wise it is indeed amazing- its about the only cleaner ive used that outperforms a Senior(Convertible).

$70 is a good price for a Sanitaire-electrolux vacuum.I was always skeptical of buying anything thru EBay.The machine I got was unused-sat on the dealer shelf for a year-more dust ON it than in it.the machine was never demoed.Which is strange-in the US Sanitaires are the most common commerical vacs.The one I got has the dust cup.the machine works good-but not better than my Kirbys or Royals.

I have three of 'em-great vacs-these are the king of them all.Just wish NSS would provide a better powernozzle to use with them.their current chokes off the "pigs" powerful airflow.Got the last of the Blue "Horse" logo dump bag.Now they just sell one type of bag-zipper top one that is black and has the new NSS logo.they dropped the "Horse".The new bag can be used as a dump bag-or you can put the disposable paper ones inside.In a pich small shop Vac bags can fit-but you have to press hard to put them on the feed tube-and Kirby "G" bags will fit over the feed tube.One of the NSS vacs I have is over 25Years old-replaced the bearings and brushes in it.They are EASY to work on.They are designed to be serviced.$20 bucks is an excellent price for a "Pig" they cost about $1000 new.Oh yes-the tools that came with the ProVac backpack vacuum will fit my "Pigs"!!The Pigs I have definely move more air than the Backpacks I have.And the NSS would be more durable.NSS now makes Backpack vacuums.One has a 400Hz motor for aircraft cleaning.Next time you ride on an airliner-look under your chair-there may be a 400hz 120V outlet under it.The janitor would plug his vac into it.FAA rules prohibit the use of brush type motor vacs aboard airplanes.Yet-gasoline is more volitile than gas-should we use a brushless motored vac to clean your car?

NSS Pig
HI Rex I got my hose adaptor fromm NSS but I got my hose and wands and all the attachments from Jon-don and I got the whole set for 75.00 plus 10.00 shipping. Nss Wanted right at 450.00 for the hose,wand, and all the attachments. Of Course my set from Jon-don is a the plastic of course but they do the job. I would have prefer my NSS to be all original but then maybe down the road I can get the original parts I need.

Think the NSS dealer was trying to sell you the premium priced hose-the last two hosesd I bought thru the NSS dealer-they were $85 each.Also they are non-electric hoses-they could be used on other NSS machines for wet pickup.If you use the powernozzle-the powernozzle cord has to be tied to the hose and wand with the reusable ty-wraps.They work but combersome.On one of my pigs there is an IEC power connector for the powernozzle.They currently sell two models-one with the powernozzle connector-the other without.For the most part if you have the NSS hose adaptor for the M1 Pig-any 1.5 in hose should fit.I don't know if they still sell them-NSS also provided a 2" hose adaptor for the M1.Now THAT would be airflow!I bought a wand and kit of attachmnets from the NSS dealer 25 years ago-back then the kit of tools and wand was $185.That would have been late 70's.I would love to have a first model M1.Its said if you have one-the bags,adaptors,hoses,etc will fit it from NSS.I talked to one of their reps and some of those are still in use.I also want to get a NSS "Bronco" wet dry vac-it has the external filter bag-and blower suction motor on top the the drum.Heavy things or liquids go into the drum and light dust and dirt goes into the bag.I have a Tornado vac that is similar at present-awsome machine-best Wet-Dry vac I have seen.Has a 15A motor.

Reggie:The Super Vac is a fine looking machine reminds me of both a Royal and a Kirby.How old is your Super Vac-looks almost brand new-can't find any reference to them on the web.The floor nozzle looks like the wide nozzle Royals you see today-I have two of them in my collection.Is the floor nozzle detachable?It seems like Scott-Fetzer designed these machines strictly for carpet cleaning.

I also have a supervac like Reggie's and in talking with Tom Gasko, He explained to me that Kirby did indeed make the supervac, And that it is based on a Kirby Dual 80 and was made for certain vac shops to sell to compete with the Commercial Royals, It is actually called the American Lincoln, If I remember right that these were made from 1976 to 1980, there were first made in Green and Then Brown and then finally blue

Skip: Very interesting on the superVacs--wish they were still around-they would compete nicely against the Chinese made Royals.What type of bag system(s) did the SuperVacs use-was it a cloth dump bag-or did it have a paper dispoable bag-did you have a choice when you bought it?I think the days of vac shops carrying commercial vacs could be ending-most restuarant chains and store chains get their cleaning equipment thru their headquarters or a company specified supplier.I would have to suppose not many of these survived from that era-commerical users usually use the machines until they die.-then they chuck 'em.

The Super vac does in fact have a cloth shake out bag made just like the f&G paper bag. Rex I don't think that Royal attachments would work on it because there would be nothing to hold the hose in place unless You could probably use a hose adaptor that would snap on the round hole of the supervac.
Rex check Ebay often that's where i got mine check in commericial vacs, other vacs,uprights,and vintage vacs one might crop up

At a radio station I used to work at they had a "Mastercraft" vacuum that looked like the GE-Premier vac in another thread.I ordered it to use at the station after an old Sanyo vac died--The Mastercraft came with a cloth outer bag and a cloth inner one-also came with several paper bags.this would have been 25 years ago.that vac died and I replaced it with a commercial Royal upright.I wish Premier stuck with their OLDER design uprights-worked better and were more durable than the "pancake" design they went to.The cloth inner bags were pretty neat-best of two worlds-filtration of the paper bags-and cost effectiveness(for commercial use)of the cloth bags.Good to know F&G bags could fit in the SuperVac.Would think F&G bags would fit in the pancake head Premiers and GE's too.Thats interesting that attachments won't work with the Supervacs-that then tells me they were designed for floor cleaning only.Soemwhere at home I still have the cloth bags that went to that Mastercraft vac-the only surviving things from it-how ironic-the bags lasted longer than the vacuum!They should fit in any vac that uses F&G bags-maybe should try them in the Koblentz vacs,Eureks and a DVC Kirby bag I have.I also wished Premier stuck with the METAL--not plastic vac chassis-far more durable-and to some degree-more quiet-most plastic bodied vacs-the plastic body makes a great sounding board to amplify the motor noise.And the pancake heads work POORLY with hose attachments.
The cloth "F&G" dump bags I have were used--but vacuumed them out VERY well-now its hard to tell.I don't wash reusable shakeout bags-the laundering can effect the bags filtration ablility.
