OMG!

My mother's Nutone blender (not a built-in model) has the same pink bowl . . . it still works after nearly 50 years. I remember as a kid you could drop ice in that thing all day long and it would just pulverize it.

I'll agree that the price for the whole kitchen is a bit high, given that it doesn't even have boomerang Formica (my fave . . . ).

Our house was built in 1961 and it cost $11,000. It was paid off in 20 years. I'd still have the white counter with the gold flecks and squiggles and rolled edges, but the surface to the left of the sink wore off. The cabinets are still original. Even if I had the money, I'd think twice about paying over 12,000 for a circa 1955 kitchen.

For the size of that kitchen, I can buy new cabinets, granite tops and all the goodies for less than $12,240. I think the whole eBay pricing culture has assisted many a pie-in-the-sky seller with holding onto their precious treasures! This guy and the woman with the Westy dryer should get together and go bowling.

No dishwasher, no refrigerator? I sure would not call this a "complete" kitchen. It seems to be a new ebay seller who thinks they have gold. These sellers will tell you they had it "appraised" for that price, and the "appraiser" is a neighbor or a friend who watch Antiques Roadshow daily and therefore are "experts".

I will take just the cabinets and the sink. I think we will have to work on that price though. (what are these people thinking?)

perhaps it is a relative of the Westinghouse lister in the other forum.
One lives on the corner of Disillusionment and Greed Dr. and the other lives half way up Waste-a-listing-fee-on-ebay-by-following-a-relatives-bad-idea St. The low section of the street that gets all the rain water.

I wonder if this isn't some kind of super salesman trying his hand at eBay. In sales, the "closer" is usually the one who can get the prey to ink the deal.

and "thecloser-123" has such a long history and positive experience on Ebay, I would trust their judgement on the price normally, but, I don't know, there is just something... not right.
I'm sure that the full 3 weeks PLUS that "the closer" has been working this turk, he has acquired a full base of knowledge to pull from. Still, if there happens to be a problem, I am betting they will have more luck selling the baby blue metal bath vanity which is starting at $300. A steel, ah, or rather, A steal compared to the kitchen cabinets, don't you think?

Now, where, exactly did the refrigerator go in this kitchen?
When you look at the pic there are standard height wall cabinets where you might put a refrig. The stove and oven are built-in so the stove doesn't go there.
Was there a portable pink dishwasher that fit in that area that "the closer" is holding out on. Perhaps hoping to list at a later time after the success of the kitchen being bid up to $18,000. Perhaps, this is just perhaps, in a week, suddenly a listing for a GE mobile maid with a low starting price of $8,999. hmm. I'm salivating already.

Or, if there was no DW. was there some special short wide PINK refrigerator sitting in that space that no one in this group has ever heard of? perhaps a wall hung refrigerator hung too low? It is possible. Will that turn up later, too? or is the closer going to hold onto that for the remodel?

Oh NO, the closer should have been aware of the fact that the almond range hood totally compromises the integrity of the rest of this PINK kitchen. How much work would it have been to remove that before taking pics. 4 screws. I doubt it is vented. It doesn't even look like there was a range hood originally considering the round through-the-wall vent next to the sink. Tisk, Tisk

That mistake in it's self is worth a couple thousand. Oh well. (

IT looks like "the closer" has erred again.

Could we not have cleaned said sink before taking pics?
And what about the "splashing" on the side? Do I dare ask what that gray stuff is?
And that faucet. Could it be original. No. The lime build up probably is though.

Oh, mr. closer guy, neither housekeeping nor presentation is our strong point. Is it?
But, he is after all "THE BIG CLOSER"! His favorite weapons are lies, pens, baseball bats, and that award winning smile.

I wonder if he could get a job at an auto dealership. hmmm, ya think?

he needed to include the pictures of the Refrigerator. That would have made ALLLL the difference. I still think removing the almond range hood would have made a difference. What ever.

What Is It?

Lately it seems every auction that does not meet certian standards elicits howls of disapproval, and angry (if not snide),emails to the seller. There are all sort and sundry items on eBay and everywhere/place else that are way over priced for what they are; if one doesn't like it, then move on. On the other hand if the item had sold, is someone going to contact the winner and call them a "sucker", and "stupid" for being "snookered" into a deal?

Very well said. If someone sent me emails criticizing the way I choose to run my auction, I'd report it to eBay. Ain't nobody's biz but my own.

No one has stated that they have sent rude emails to the actual seller. And yes, that would be mean.

To state the obvious,
we are just commenting on the rediculous price(s) of some recent finds on Ebay. IT's just fun. Perhaps hoping the seller would put realistic prices on their otherwise items of interest to people here at AW.org land.
It is unlikely that the sellers even know about AW.org or that we are reviewing their items. But it is no harm to talk or review items for sale. It is done all the time here and other places.
