Got it away with MalwareBytes Anti-MalWare.
Post your experience with deleting of viruses in this topic.

Virus

I picked up a virus last year and faught with it for almost 6 weeks. Ended up reloading the OS. Which is what I should have done in the first place. PC ran like new after that.

I have Symantic antivirus and firewall, it works but it affects computer performance and the new update no longer has adware blocking. I've been too lazy to switch to another but plan to. My friends all swear by Kaspersky, but my brother-in-law recommends another (can't remember its name). He is a Federal agent and specializes in computer forensics, so when I change I'll use what he recommends.

I haven't had a virus since 1998 or 1999.
I put my PC on lock down and sweep clean every two weeks with Spybot, search and destroy and Adaware by Lavasoft.

1. Go to Internet Option
2. Go to Securities and set everything to default level
3. Go to privacy and go to advanced

Keep in mind, if you doing banking online, it may affect your browser from loading which may require you to manually trust that website.

If you end up with a virus, you must do one thing to get it out of the memory or it will reload itself again when you reboot your computer after removal.

1. Go to Control Panel
2. System Property
3. Check the Turn off System Restore, hit OK and reboot.

Now you starting fresh, go back and unchecked that box so you have a new starting point in case you must restore you PC from a later date.

Malwarebytes . . .

I'll second that this is an excellent program, plus you can use their limited version for free. I keep both that and Symantec Norton in my computer. They seem to coexist with no problems whatsoever, and last time I had a virus it was the Malwarebytes that finally fixed it.

Mine was Trojan Vundo, the only serious computer virus I've ever had. The Norton picked it up and tried to eliminate it, but it kept coming back. Malwarebytes finally took care of it, thank goodness.

Microsoft.com

For anyone running a Windows system at the Microsoft page under products you can find Microsoft Security Essentials. Designed to be compatable with Microsoft operating systems and completely free it works like a dream. Remove any antivirus programs before downloading. A quick restart and your good to go.

Second the use of Spybot Search and Destroy (free from downloads.com). I also used to use Adaware Personal SE and haven't put it on this machine yet. Running Avira Antivir Personal, free version, at the moment. No issues so far.

Always use caution with products that brag about how they "clean" or "speed up" your PC. Most are BS and you'll regret using them.

I'm also not a big Norton/Symantics fan. Had it for a few years and it was not only a system hog, but ultimately led to system crashes and other fatal behavior....and then I could never get it completely removed from the registry so problems continued until the HD Finally just grenaded.

I'll duck after I say it...

...but you should get a Mac next time you're in the market for a new system. I've been 100% Apple since 2003 at both home at work and not one single virus the whole time. I remember back at the beginning some virus going around through the entire office and crippling everyone... except me. I was able to go online, download the fix and burn it onto a CD to pass around and get everybody cleaned up.

I've been in the industry long enough to know that Macs aren't immune from problems, but it is a vastly more uncommon occurrence at least due to their underlying BSD-based OS.

I use Kaspersky. Blocks those little bastards long before any other software is needed to eradicate them.

You could always use BootCamp for gaming. From what I understand some of the new iMacs have graphics that actually don't suck, and since most folks who are really gaming on their PCs aren't also surfing the web / editing movies / etc. at the same time, that might be an option.

For my Windows-specific stuff at work I use VMware Fusion and either a 2K or XP VM, which is fine for my needs.

My friend

Apple is over priced sh*t, The quality is bad [It sucks more than the Nvidia 8800GTX/Ultra Phenomenon or the Pentium FDIV Bug]

Bump

Sh**y me, i downloaded a crack for DiRT 2 [Racesim for PC, Really like it but NFS:S Is good imo], TROJAN, Deleting takes ages with NOD32 online scanner.
