Hi Everyone:
I have heard from Clorox Consumer Services that the Sodium Hypochlorite concentration in the new Concentrated Clorox Bleach formulation will be 8.25%. They do not yet have any literature on line or available yet. Supposedly, everything is the same except for the increase in Sodium Hypochlorite.

I have heard from friends that it is starting to be advertised in Sunday papers, etc. It is not available yet in my area (So Cal).

If anyone is out in stores and sees the product, I would be very appreciative if you could take a picture of the section of the label with the Sodium Hypochlorite percentage and post it in a reply to this thread.

I need to verify this information for a work project and need it sooner rather than later. It is unfortunate they have not posted this information on their website when it appears the product is going to be in stores imminently.

Thanks for your help.

Bob

I found this in the Wed ad paper - thoguht I'd share what the container may look like now. We'll have to see what it looks like. I'm excited there won't be anymore under-dosing because of the small bleach dispensers in HE machines vs the regular formula we have now.

I Will Say This:

Stock clerks in stores everywhere will be eternally grateful to Clorox for this, particularly when the brand's market leadership motivates other companies to do the same.

Liquid chlorine bleach is one of the heaviest and most tiring-to-handle items many grocery and discount store employees deal with; the day the truck brings bleach is Not A Good Day for them.

Hopefully this will make their workdays easier.

8.25%

I did get confirmation from Clorox that the concentration of sodium hypochlorite will be 8.25% in the new Regular Concentrated Clorox.

The Commercial Germicidal Clorox Bleach will remain at 6.15% sodium hypochlorite for the time being but will eventually be changed as well.

In doing this research, I found some interesting information. The "scented" varieties of Clorox have a lower percent sodium hypochlorite than the Regular formulations. (Supposedly, this is to make them more pleasing to the consumer.) The scented and "splash-less" varieties are not approved as a disinfectant and do not state the % of sodium hypochlorite.

Look For The EPA #

While store shelves are full of all and sundry types of chlorine bleaches, not all are disinfectents. If the bottle lacks an EPA registration number then the product does not contain enough chlorine to kill germs etc..

Many store and otherwise private label bleaches say "cleans, deodorises, .." but make no mention of killing germs, molds, mildew, etc.. because they cannot.
