I have the gas connector to go from the dryer to the gas pipe, but I didn't take a very close look at the actual gas line, but when I went to hook it up yesterday, it's totally different connection that the gas line for my Frigidaire. Is there some sort of adapter that I can buy at the hardware store?

Here's the gas valve, it looks like it would be either a 3/4" or 1" connection.

Here's the connector from the dryer to the gas line. It is a half inch connection.

What do I need to get in order to hook up the dryer?

Gas Line

You need the nipple that goes on the gas supply line, take the connector line with you to hdwe store so you get the right size, it shouldn't be hard to find.

I did it

I connected our gas dryer myself, if I can do it, you can do it! you will need one of the connectors that goatfarmer has sent in his attachment. I understand you are NOT to use teflon tape around the threads, but as the guys at Home Depot for the specifics regarding your area.

If you have to ask, you meed to learn more before doing it yourself.

:-)

The flare fittings on a flexible gas connector don't get pipe sealant... the threaded fittings at the very ends do.

IIRC there is now teflon tape for gas... the logic was that it can clog a tiny gas orifice.. as found in the Venturi.

Just to reiterate, there should be TWO connecting pieces on each end on the pictured flexible gas connector.

Tthe two pieces on the end are flared to each other with the open end thread for the wall pipe or stove's pipe

That valve does look rather old. The whole house is pretty old. I think there was a stove here at one time. There is a double stainless steel sink to the right of the opening, but the faucet doesn't swivel, and the hot water knob won't turn either. I will have to vent the dryer through the window above the sink.

I would like to remove the sink completely so I could have the washer and dryer side by side, but I don't think I have skills to do all that.
