Is in the process of testing laundry detergents, atm, and there have been some interesting updates :)

Members Mark Liquid (from Sams Club) is now a top rated detergent, out scoring the Kirkland Signature pods, of before.

All Mighty Pacs, have soured in the ratings, previously a horrible performer, now towards the top of the chart.

AND... What's really, really interesting, is they've eliminated the whole Liquid Tide line from the charts, completely. I feel like, if this continues, we'll sure have some more accurate comparisons.

As I have been told before, I can't post pictures, or large snippets of the charts, but, if you can access them, there really interesting to see.

Liquid Tide formulations are missing from the list because, as of testing, they are still listed as HE only. CR's current test was of detergents that are formulated to be used in both HE and non-HE washers. They also tested a few detergents that are only for non-HE washers, and those are listed separately.

I suspect CR has updated its testing standards: Tide Pods scored a 72 six months ago, and now they score a 68. Top-rated powdered Tide With Bleach dropped from 82 to an 81. Kirkland Signature Ultra Clean pods also lost a couple of points.

Combi detergent versus non he detergent opinions??????

What did they rate as a top detergent for non- HE machines only. And, was it liquid or powder? The majority of the detergents that the grocery stores are carrying are for the most part combination (he and non he) formulated detergents.

I feel with those detergents if you use what they recommend it's for he machines not non-he machines. Thus, in a non(for short) machine you don't get the true cleaning effectiveness since there's more water.

What's everyone else's opinion on this?

theres a few detergents out there, that claim to be HE....

but if you read the directions.....use one cup/scoop for standard top loaders, and 1/2 for HE or FL machines....

been doing this with all detergents, and avoiding the expensive HE versus making any powder or liquid stretch further with more uses per container.........with no loss of cleaning power or oversudsing

Purex, Oxydol, even SearsUP has recomendations of using half as much for an HE machine on their boxes.......

If you elminate high sudsing surfactants/control froth

Then your only concern would be dosing for the proper soil to water ratio and so forth.

Cannot remember when or why it stopped but back in the day vintage detergents gave dosing directions for top loading automatics, wringer, twin tubs, and front loading washing machines. Even my older box of Tide "ultra" gives directions for front loading machines.
