Hello,
My first post here. I was curious about the Youngstown Electric Sink and found your forum. Neat stuff. First, a question: why can't you search old threads? Seems like a common element of good discussion forums. I found out some info using cached Google data, but that does not last so long. I guess I could use the internet archive but what a hassle that can be.

Anyway... onto my point. I know a distant family member who has an electric sink and four Youngstown Kitchen cabinets intact at their home. I think even the faucet is original. They don't have any plans to remove them, but it would be interesting to know if they have any value to someone else.

I know that "lonestar1947" from Detroit is very much interested in finding a Youngstown Electric Sink. Refer to his request in the attached link.

I'm collecting Electric Sinks as well, and would certainly be interested in adding either a Youngstown Electric Sink to my collection, and a stand-alone version.

I see some great Dishwashers and Washing-machines on these pages..., I only want ONE thing...,a Youngstown Electric Sink!

My collection will then be complete, and I can die happy!

Well, never give up! There is one out there and you will find it, just keep looking.
If you know of an area where people have vacation homes or summer cabins, it may be worth advertising in a local paper or checking local second-hand stores. I found my Inglis washer and dryer AND the 66 Maytag top-loading dishwasher that way so you just never know.

Here is the Electric Sink in question. I found out this was owned by the first owner, a 90 year old lady, when the house was bought about 20 years ago. It appeared to be well-used but not used much in later years. It is currently disconnected and it may or may not work. There are two major chips to the porcelain, one at the sink (repaired somehow) and one on the lid to the washer. There is no hurry to remove this unit, however doing so would mean the kitchen needs to be rebuilt. So, my my family says that an offer to take it needs to be worth their effort. As is it goes with the rest of the vintage house. 4 matching Youngstown cabinets would go with the sink if anyone is interested, and it is hoped the Electric Sink could go to someone who might appreciate it.

Electric Sinks

I find this thread interesting because many years ago I saw in a ladies house what i can only presume to be a UK version of an electric sink.

Laid out like the youngstown sink, but this i think was made by Hoover, I remember that because it had what Hoover call a "pulsator" (as used in their twin tub washing machines)about half way down the back of the sink unit, the rack was on vertical tracks and you just pulled it up to load it, and I dont remember there being a lid. I remember the lady saying she bought it at the Ideal Home exhibition and that it was not that practical really as it had no automatic rinsing, you had pump the water out and then refill it.
