Cool 1919 home with some original fixtures

I really like this house, for some reason it has been on the market a few times and keeps coming back. The last time it showed up for a price 5K more. I guess maybe because of its age it's hard to get a loan.

Anyway, it has some really cool old plumbing and lighting fixtures. I think the medicine cabinets/lights and bathtub are vintage.

Interesting.

Couldn't tell from the exterior, but the interior has almost a Craftsman look to it.

But what's up with the corrugated galvanized steel paneling in the bath? That's really odd; can't be vintage.

I wonder why it keeps changing hands. Does it have some sort of structural issue? Ghosts? Bad neighbors?

Nice place-would replace those HORRIBLE blinds with roll shades to put the old back in the house.Where is this place?

Doorknobs

What I love to see in vintage homes is those clear glass or heavy plastic doorknobs. Plus, they were easy to grip!

The age of the house shouldn't really be a factor in getting financing,  Our home was built in 1925, and we had no problems whatsoever getting our mortgage.

My house...

That was built in 1903 is a lot more original then that one is. Every single door is original with glass knob. Almost all my windows still have lead glass panes. I have some original light fixtures, and all the woodwork is original too. The only thing that has really been tampered with is the kitchen, and the bathroom,but even then those are still very vintage.

So funny how in this country this is considered an old home, whereas in so many countries this wouldn't be considered particularly old at all...

America is so young. Look at what America accomplished in only 250 years.

Actually the house never sells, it just keeps disappearing ad if its under contract and a few weeks later, it's back. Maybe the tourquoise color is turning them off. Lol in a way I like it, kind of reminds me of New England for some reason. I'm not really sure the style, I guess Craftsman is about the closest.

I agree the metal panels in the bathroom are weird. I guess they used them because of being waterproof.I think I would replace them with beadboard or subway tile.

I wonder what the wiring and plumbing are like? Could be part of the issue if it has K&T wiring or fuses. Since it has central air conditioning I kind of doubt it has old wiring.

Spirit of 76 your house looks great. I like the unpainted woodwork. That's something I like about my house too even if mine is just skinny 70s trim, it has a nice grain.
