Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I had a 74-75 version in Avocado minus the cutting board top and only one button for rinse & hold feature. Single spray arm but it did have the hidden heat element with fan forced heating and boy did it leave the dishes hot when it finished. So hot you couldn't pick them up till they cooled off. When we bought our first house in 87 with built in WP it languished in the basement about one more year and then I sold it for something like $60. Who's sorry now. The thing was built like a tank but easy to roll around on its ball casters and the very sturdy handlebar that goes across the front.

Veg,

I would grab it if I were you. They are great machines. I had a neighbor who had one and I agree with petek, the thing moved effortlessly around the kitchen and washed very well. My favorite KA design is the one with the plates down the center (no center spray arm) and this machine has that design. Hers was like his in that it didn't have the cutting board top and only had one button. This machine may even have upgraded racks. Too bad there isn't a picture of the inside.

I did

Well, after a week away on a much needed vacation, I came back home and saw that on Craigslist and contacted them yesterday. No one had asked about it, so I clarified with them that it worked and did not leak, and went and picked it up. I should know better!
It had left over detergent in the bins on the door, which were open.. I filled them last night for a lightly loaded test run. The machine barely lets enough water in to even move the wash arm. The detergent doors do not open. It leaks from the drying vent! I ran it twice to see if it would free up anything, no luck. Ended up dumping water in by hand to get it to rinse itself out. I am very dissapointed to say the least and I am going to ask for my money back. So, if anyone wants it.. it will be back up for grabs. I did take the hose off at the bottom, clean out some stuff on the screen, and put some white vinegar in the valve, hose, and all to see if that might free it up, but that does not address the long term leakage it seems to have.
