I had a similar Whirlpool, they have retractable casters. This one is a little later than the one I had, I think this one has a teeny-tiny tub. Mine had a not quite standard capacity.

. . exactly like the one in the ad. It is the compact belt drive type which is sometimes called a jack in the box because it is held up by three heavy springs inside the cabinet . Mine is the same color too and I am not sure if it is coppertone - it's darker brown and is not shaded. Mom used it before I moved home 7 years ago but now it just holds up a television in Mom's room !

That color is called 'Coffee' and was available into the mid 80s. Probably my favorite color on a washer.

Mine is in almond and it a 1984 year model. This machine is designed to be convertable hense the additional knob for temperature selection. It does not have retractable hoses so they can be removed for regular permanent installation. Mine had only been used a couple of times and was still pretty much brand new with the styrofoam backing and everything still in it.
Speaking of the suspension springs though. One of the bolts came loose during the drive from D.C. to Portland. My Westinghouse washer had a broken belt so it was inop and this Kenmore was my only hope. It was kind of making a banging noise when it went into spin and all of the sudden the tub dropped hard to one side. GREAT!!! Luckily I remember picking up a large bolt that I found in the moving trailer not knowing what it was but kept it anyways. Thank goodness!!! Put that back together and it's a very quiet machine once again. Perfect for very small loads. I mean VERY SMALL.

I'll have a cup o'that joe with a shot of caramel--just gorgeous.
They call them "Convertibles," at least in the Whirlpool version which I have in white. I love it. It has the are-you-kidding-me, am-I-seeing-things 900 rpm spin. Fabulous.

24"BDs
I have a '77 BD 24",it's a plain-jane single valve version
it's a fun little washer,though it does not sound quite as
cool as the full size BDs;the little woo-woo-woo-woo is
missing,but the more drawn out woooo-woooo from the tranny
is there as is the clicks,clunks,buzzes etc from the wigwag
and shift levers working.
A 24"BD just appeared at a local used store-it is in almond
and has a folding plastic lid-i will likely grab that one!

I wish all coppertone appliances had that deep rich dark color, sans the cheesy shading. Coppertone can be such a gorgeous color when done correctly....or down right hideous, especially when it starts to show wear and tear.

I've got a question about these portable machines. Do they just hook up infront of the kitchen sink like a portable dishwasher does?

some of them do-my '77 one does have the sink adaptor and it
only has one fill valve,you adjust the temp at the sink valves

On My Harvest Gold Whirlpool "Convertible"
One can use the portable hook-up arrangement with a "quick connect" uni-couple as with porti dishwashers, or do the separate drain and fill hose (using either type of faucet adapter, permanent or quick-connect). One caps of the "hot" water inlet and sets the machine to "cold/cold" or "warm/warm". In this manner wash and rinse temps are controlled at the faucet.
OTHO as the machine is "convertible" to a "standard" machine, one can hook-up both hot and cold water hoses as with a normal sized unit, with separate drain hose.
