Aiiiiiiiiiii!

That LK dryer makes me bite my tongue.

Back around '80, in Atlanta, I had the washer (though in White), and as hard hard HARD as I searched for the dryer, I could not get it to surface. I really wanted that pair!

If I had found it, I like to think I'd still have it, though of course that's probably not true, what with the parts situation on these puppies today and the level of DIY expertise it would take to keep one going now.

Sigh.

I like the chromed door handle and lint drawer handle on these older Kenmore dryers. No doubt they feel more substantial to the touch than the yellowing white plastic handles on the newer models.

Doug:

That was the thing about LK's of that vintage - the feel.

Many parts you touched in use were of die-cast, chrome-plated brushed metal. It was very similar in feel to the interior appointments on a luxury car of the era.

No other brand I'm familiar with had that feel. I don't think I'm the only person who was impressed; LKs were very popular with the wealthy who didn't otherwise do much shopping at Sears.
