this should go in the shopper's square:

here's this craigslist ad for a vintage coppertone "norge" automatic washer for only $20, near phoenix, arizona. you can't beat the price!!!

ad says:
"Have a apartment sized washing machine that runs and works fine, just has a small leak. Has been sitting in my backyard for 6 months as we have no use for it. Used in my parents' cabin before they upgraded, but it definitely still gets the job done. Call or text me at 4804069142 - alex "

i don't know anything about norge washing machines, but i think this is a good deal??

I'm sure someone here will probably snatch that one up. Looks to be a half decent machine especially for that price. To bad they didn't post a money shot of it. Would've loved to seen what it looked like inside.

i hope someone here gets it. $20 is a "helluva" price to pay for this vintage washer. i don't know much about the "norge" brand but it doesn't look to be in too bad of shape from the outside, what we can see in the picture. and i mean if you think about it, would you rather have $20 in your pocket, or a vintage "norge" washer to play with?
that's the question i usually ask myself when i want to convince myself to buy something.
hm hm hm......

but i seen it last night, and it had been posted for like 6 hours or so. i posted it on here, in hopes that someone who likes norge will get it & appreciate it!!!

malcolm...

thanks for adding that video of the "norge" washer "in action" so that everyone can see the washing action of this kind of washer.

you know, i like the coppertone color of this washer. i can't help wonder how old this washer is, or more like, when it was made? i don't know why, but i get the feeling that maybe like 1967 or so?? was it in the 60's that washers came out in "fashionable colors"???

hmmmmm.....

ha ha.....

shame on you goatfarmer, trying to coax me into buying that norge. i'm still having a time of convincing my mom about the "bradford". there's no way i could bring the norge home too!!!
LOL......

well alright countryford!!!

you'll have to keep us posted & let us all know how everything goes!!!

i'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you!!! and remember, we want to see pictures of the tub and the agitator!!!

;o)

A Norge, A Must!!!!

In which case I remember my childhood friend's family being "Norge Nuts"!

The fridge & dishwasher top freezer for the former, portable for the latter, and in Avacado, and what put them over-the-top was the white single door fridge in the basement...

The Harvest Gold W&D however, were Wards Signature,--But NORGE BUILT!--TOL, and the mom showed me the flame behind the little door as the dryer was drying...

And the washer's removable lint filter & fabric softener dispenser that fit into one another & had to be in place, or the foaming suds spit out through the lid during the wash...!

There was another friend I had, in the house after he moved out, (and I'd never been there when he lived there, just saw him in school) another family (my mom's friend who moved in) we'd baby sat for had the old TOL gold Lady Kenmore washer (which my aunt & uncle in Baltimore had at the uncle's little place, before they got a better & bigger house, after their marriage) & TOL gold Norge gas dryer left in the house & got to see the details for the dryer more up close, (a lot resembling my folks' Bradford) but was sadly relegated to another side of the basement unused & away from the laundry as it got replaced by a Whirlpool commercial dryer, in white, coin slot and all, next to the still-working washing machine... (Maybe it broke & needed a part or the pilot was a nuisance to light?)

It is officially at my house now. I'll try and get more pictures of it this weekend. Even though I purchased it, it isn't going to stay with me. I bought it for someone else in the club. I am not going to say who. It is up to that person to make their presence known. It will however stay at my place, until that person can arrange shipping to their location. :)

cool....

so, have you tried to run a load through it to see if it works? did the other member give you permission to play with it?? does it look like it's in good condition??? can't wait for the pictures & update.....

:o)
