i have a small apt. size stackable whirlpool dryer that i picked up for 10 bucks at a yard sale in 2006. i have used it before and it is a great dryer. it is designed to run on either 120 or 240 volts, depending on how you wire it up.

i decided to get it out of my shed this week and use it in my laundry room that i am redoing. that way i can stack it on top of my frigidaire gallery front load washer, making room for another of my vintage washers in the room. when done i will have the frigidaire gallery washer and whirlppol dryer on top, my vintage speed queen solid tub, my vintage maytag, and my vintage frigidaire 1-18 all in the laudry room.

HERE IS WHERE I NEED YOUR HELP! AND I WILL SAY "THANKS" IN ADVANCE FOR THE INFO I KNOW YOU FOLKS WILL SUPPLY!

there is no model or serial no. on this machine anywhere, it has been destroyed. all it says is whirlpool! does anyone have a similiar machine that i can use the model no. off of to check on and order parts? or does anyone recognise this dryer enough to give me info to where i can check on parts. i am interested in a belt, heating element, and lint filter screen. the belt is the main thing i want to get. i plan on using this machine for a good while!

here are some pics if it!

here it is all cleaned out

and with heating element and fan housing back on! it has a very simple wiring schematic also! i use it on 240 volts so i have it wired that way but when i first got it i tried it on 120 volts to see how long it would take! way too long!

wonder what the 53 on the back means?

i put it all together and ran it

with a load of clothes! it does a very nice job and is very quiet! you can see in this pic where the model no. rating label used to be on the bottom left side.

since my maytag and speed queen are both harvest gold i will spray this little dryer in a lite yellow comparable to harvest gold later this year when i can take it outside for an afternoon. right now it has a bright yellow hand brushed paint job and some major rusty areas that i will have to attend to!

i almost threw this little dryer away several times in the past couple years but something in me would not let me do it! i like it for some reason! like said i like the extra space i get by stacking it on my front loader.

here's my maytag

i got about 3 years ago in rochester new york on one of my road trips. i remember i rented a van and loaded up all the way from new york to ohio!

i have the front off as i have to install a new drain hose on it before i can use it.

you can see the rust on the dryer!

here's a pic of the

inside of the tub. it has been sitting for about 3 yaesr so it's definately dirty! as soon as i get the drain hooked up i intend to clean it out and start using it!

the tub should be white i am told but it appears a lite yellowdue to hard water stains! i thought it was painted that way when i first got it! members here told me differently!

my 1-18 i have to do

a repair on before i can move it into the laundry room. this is the machine that i run without the cabinet on it!

so again, if anyone can help me with this dryer i would appreciate it very much and as always, thanks for looking. haven't done a thread in awhile here!

Speed Queen!

I love the look of the FS dispenser with the visible metal clip...to me that screams Heavy Duty :-)...NO apologies, it's a SQ!
John Combo52 probably your best source on parts info for your Whirlie Girl...she would look lovely repainted in Coppertone, to complement your Tag and 1-18

That is probably the best compact dryer in the US

If you ever get the time, the drum and rear bulkhead can be repainted with two part epoxy paint. I use the white paint. I find it at Home Depot in the area with the sinks and tubs because it can be used on porcelain. I holds up for years and really brightens the dryer interior. I am sure you will get your needed information soon.

thanks

i will e mail john combo52 directly. you're right, a brown (coppertone) look would go well with the harvest gold of the other 2.

i work at home depot, will check out that paint, i do plan on using this dryer for a long time. i like it's compact look and it seems like a good, sensible design! i think that's why i could not throw it out! it's quiet and dries clothes very quickly.

i took out my old frigidaire 1966 custom deluxe dryer and moved it to the storage barn in my back yard. this little whirlpool is all i need to use!

WP Compact Electric Dryer

Hi Peter, your little WP dryer is likely a model LFC4930N0, this dryer was designed for 120-240 or 120-208 volt operation, WP made a separate model for 120 volts. Yes you can run it on 120 volts but since it only has a 3200 watt heater at 240 you will only get 800 watts of heat out of it when the dryer is connected to 120 V which is why it is so slow on 120V. If this had been a 120V model it would have come with a 1400 Watt heater.

These are rugged little dryers, it is too bad you have to go through so much work to repaint a machine that has been run so hard, when I think of how many of these we see thrown away every month that are in like new condition.

thank you!

there is my info i needed! you are great! i was wondering what the wattage was on the heater, now i know. the frigidaire i took out used over 5000 watts so this little guy will save me a buck or two also! it will help pay for heating all the water i use in my old dishwashers i run!

if you ever have any parts like belts, heater, lint filter, motor, fan, please let me know, i will buy them from you. i want to keep it running for a good while.

i'm gonna use that model no. and check out the online part places i use just to see what's still available. for some reason i really love this little dryer!

thanks again, pete

Local parts.

Come on down to Cincinnati Appliance Parts on Gilbert Ave (used to be Pearsol's). Ask for Dave and I'll see what we can do for you and I can get you better pricing.

The lint filter is likely a 8531964.
The belt might be a common 341241. We also have the 4392065 maintenance kit with the drum rollers, the idler pulley, and the belt. I think that will fit the 24".

Get me the part # of the element, and I'll see what I can get, ditto for the seal.

If you can get a good model number, I can look them up that way too.

Good luck,
Dave
