My niece wants a counter top dishwasher, she has no room for a traditional one. I am unfamiliar with them but I've have heard some negative comments. So here I am asking our denizens which of the many brands are the best? Thank you in advance.
They’re all pretty much made by the same Chinese factory. So you could just get the one that has the features you need for the price. Danby is a leading brand.
I’ve heard good reviews about the Farberware brand too.
Could she do a portable dishwasher instead? They hook up via the kitchen sink faucet and can be moved elsewhere when not in use. Many of them hold as many dishes as standard models.
This is the portable equivalent to the machine I have, mine is the built-in version but they are virtually the same machine. The rack design isn't my favorite, but it's relatively quiet and cleans really well. I've not yet had a dish come out of mine that I felt needed a rewash.
I believe that AW user Eugene/Frigilux has the portable version of this dishwasher. Perhaps he can chime in a bit more.
Hi John! I had no idea is was basically one company making them all. Thanks for the input.
Hi Ryne. I am not certain if she would be open to rolling a dishwasher around. But the big plus about that is being able to fit pots and pans. I'll suggest it. Thanks.
There are a couple of different countertop options out there; one of which is the square-format Chinese one as mentioned here. The "new" one is even smaller, called the Bob. It's about half the size and is even more self contained (can run without either access to a water faucet or a drain) and is made in France. It's about double the price, though.
