Some of you may have already discovered this, but when searching Craigslist, you may often want to search for your item under a common misspelling.
Some items go unsold because the person listing it misspelled the item's name and people cannot locate it when doing a search. This also occurs, sometimes, on Ebay
For example: My mid-1980's General Electric Compactor, was new unused and in the original box. But the person posting it on Ebay had it under "compacter", not compactor. So I got it for $25 with no other competing bids.
So when searching you might try some of the following misspellings which, unbelievably, I have seen:
"compacter" for compactor
"dish washer" for dishwasher
"water softner" for water softener
"drier" for dryer
So when searching, you might want to try some variations on the spellings of the item, and also the brands. Many people butcher the spellings of brand names!
Of course, you cannot search with every possible permutation, but you can try some of the more common misspellings.[this post was last edited: 12/7/2012-11:39]
