Crayon stain removal?

Stop the washer half way thru washing....

Won't this dump the water in a laundromat if the front-loader has a dump-valve (solenoid-controlled gravity drain) rather than a paump? Or is that only a power failure?

(Normally-open valve held in closed position by applying power.)

most laundromats I have seen here in the States have a mix of top loading and front loading washers.

If I had to do intensive stain removal in a laundromat, I would choose a top loading washer for this very reason.

Otherwise, I would use (and do) use front loading washers at the laundromat.

However, I don't like laundromats, at least not the ones around here. The thought of washing my things in public machines just creeps me the heck out.

The result so far.

Well, it's still a work in progress. After scraping off the wax with a credit card (thanks Scott), we attacked the clothes with WD-40, veg. oil, dish soap, Fels Naptha, and washed in SA8. The dark red crayon turned a pale yellow. We are still working on the stains but I don't know how much will ever be perfect again. We were at least able to salvage a few of the more important items.

One tool that I could have used was a better washing machine. Our house has a Norgetag which really isn't great. I did get a better machine today, and for more information, please see the thread called "I Crossed the Line Today" in the Imperial forum.

No problem, Dave. With the price of clothing these days, whatever you can save and the aggravation of shopping makes it worth it to give it all a shot.

Dave....one more thing. You might want to add a bottle of Lestoil to your arsenal. It works better than dish detergent in the messy, sloppy mix, and also is quite versatile for other oily, grimy, or in this case waxy messes.

If you know it happened once, you know it'll happen twice!
