most laundromats I have seen here in the States have a mix of top loading and front loading washers.
If I had to do intensive stain removal in a laundromat, I would choose a top loading washer for this very reason.
Otherwise, I would use (and do) use front loading washers at the laundromat.
However, I don't like laundromats, at least not the ones around here. The thought of washing my things in public machines just creeps me the heck out.
