Hey!

I've taken a liking to the rather ecclectic furniture styles of the 1950's. I recently purchased at an antique store, some neat 50's lamps. I was more interested in the shades. They were tan, two-tier drum-style ones with squiggly black lines all over. I thought they would go PERFECT with a pair of wooden lamps I have already. So I shelled out the $40 for the lamps.

Well I decided that I liked the lamps too so I set out to find a pair of shades to go with them.

I found a pair of PINK 50's lamp shades in need of some TLC. They were a bit warped, the lacing was coming off and the frames were rusty. Typical 'basement fodder' as pictured below:

All fixed up!

I disassembled the shades, ironed the material to flatten the warping, painted the frames, and applied new lacing. I then paired them with my 50's lamps purchased prior. All I can say is I LOVE them!

They are so wonderfully hideous!!!

Bugsy--

Many, if not most, of us here LIKE 50s design.

I think they are a nice combination of base and shade.

If anyone around the Springfield, Mass., area is interested, I am trying to get rid of these ceiling lights. Note that some of them have the rope that pulls up and down to raise and lower the light fixture. You can pull the light WAY down; reminds you of the lights above a poker table. Bunch of different fixtures and glass.
