I viewed a thread on here with redcarpetdrew finding what he thought was an a806 & matching dryer. Turned out to be a 606 topped with an a806 console.I have read some folks that think swapping is ok and others who say it's just not genuine. But,It is exactly what I will do.I am getting older by the month,Don't care about bleach dispensers and want a matching set.If I find a true a806 5 years from now ,so be it.I can be just as happy with both units lit up ,lookin fine and doing their jobs. Will post some pics soon.

With a dryer....

I did this with my DG106...It came with the house and I did a refresh of all parts that were bad or could go bad. The swap required drilling new mounting holes for the timer, since the 106 timer is different than the 806 timer, finding a sungold timer dial and knob, installing a ballast and looking at the wiring diagrams for the old and new consoles. I since replaced the 4 button panel with the 2 button 'Low Heat' and 'Regular Heat' buttons since my next goal is to convert it to the DG model..(cant remember the number) that sensed vent moisture for the Auto-Dry feature and install a drum light.(Like I need more projects:)[this post was last edited: 2/17/2017-21:13]

That is the problem, Which blue? Do I have to go to an automotive paint supply and custom match a quart? Then I'd have to spray both to match. While not a huge issue,I could pull the dryer control panel off & mask and spray both. Sure would like a spray can verses the gun ,compressor and mess.

The A606 which was my machine for this project has been yanked away and sold to someone else.I am crushed. Project Vaporized.

An 806 of the proper vintage should come along some day. Be patient and keep a watchful eye out.

Here's the spray paint I used. It's not a perfect match but it suited me. If you can find a better match use it.

Thanks Brian,

You really are a quality guy-AND-Your works are superb.

Guess I'll redo the console and be ready for anything that comes along.

Thank you-Duke

Duke,

The dial you will need is part# 2-4484 (204484 in the computer world) Timer dial - A806 - with Permanent Press - prior to Series "01". That's the description in the parts manual. Click on the link and scroll down to Reply #10 and look at picture 4. That's what it looks like. Your chrome knob will fit this dial. I assume you have an ebay account. Log into it and type in those two numbers. Then try combinations, like the numbers and Maytag dial or Maytag timer dial or Maytag timer. Sometimes it will bring up different things. If it doesn't find anything, a box will pop up and ask you if you would like to be notified by email if one shows up. Click it and keep an eye on your in box. Keep looking and let me know if you find one by the time you need it. I suppose you know that the washer knobs and dryer knobs are different? The chrome and acrylic knobs are interchangeable. But only from washer to washer and dryer to dryer. That control console will be fine once it's painted and the dial and knob are changed.
