Hey,

I just read your info a little closer.

If it was sold as new, then it had to be protected by warranty as new. If it turned out to be other than new, and Dell provided you with proof, Wal-Mart should have (maybe MUST have) either covered it under the extended warranty, or offered you a refund.

On a similar note, I do enjoy the savings by buying "open box" goods! I bought a laptop at Best Buy that way, and further negotiated for a leather laptop bag that I'm still using for the current laptop. Our microwave was bought open box, as was the big BTU a/c we use downstairs (negotiated down more as well!)

4 stores come to mind with GREAT customer service!

One of my favorite stores to shop at is Nordstrom. You cannot beat their men's selection or the shoe department. They also have a hassle free return policy, no questions asked.
Another great store to shop at is Publix Supermarket. Everyone is always so nice and helpful, they take competitor coupons, and the stores are very clean, and well stocked.
Von Maur is also fantastic. While I don't have a Von Maur store by me, I always shop with them online. What store offers a no interest credit card, free shipping, and free gift wrap? Yes, that would be Von Maur!

And lastly, Ace Hardware. I shop at Ace alot. While Ace is usually more expensive than Lowe's or HD, the customer service is excellent. I am greeted the moment I walk in the store, and I never have to look far for help if I need it.

Ah Nordstrom.

Love in the afternoon.

Except on December 26th every year... pouncing on the men's cashmere table has become a major contact sport for me. LOL

Nordstrom, the only place where the salesperson sends you a thank you card after the sale.
I love the Mall of America unit. The sales staff really bends over backwards for you. Recently I was looking at a bottle of cologne and was waffling on my decision to buy it. The wonderful sales lady GAVE me a tester full of the cologne to try it and see if I like it FREE OF CHARGE!
Nobody does service like Nordstrom.

Self-Serve Checkout/FastLane

I'm a register operator at a major grocery retailer and I absolutely LOVE self serve checkouts. Our store doesnt have them yet :( but I have friends from other close stores that have them and the only thing they complain about is that they take ages to count.

Also in one store a huge amount of people actually go through self-serve (over 1/2 of all transactions) but the majority of these are small orders (bread, milk cheese etc) leaving the "normal" checkouts for large orders and people who dont like/dont want to use the FastLane.

In the same store, Staff have not lost hours, but actually gained them... This store would usually have a service supervisor and two operators from, say, 8pm to 10pm, They now ALSO have to put on the Self-Serve Assistant.

Brilliant checkouts, I personally use them every chance I get (Yes, Ironic).

I cant wait for our store to get the FastLane and feel 100% confident that I will still have a job.

:) Shan
