D&M!

Thanks David for adding. Tappan did go to the sears D&M design for awhile after the above series you posted. I personally don't know why some of these manufactures got stuck on the tower?

D&M DISWHWASHERS

I love the ad copy FOR CLEANUP ANY EAISER YOU WOULD HAVE TO USE PAPER PLATES I think that sums up the quality and reliability of D&M DWs very well. All of these later D&Ms were not only just fair to poor performers but very problem prone machines, I would bet that 90% of them have already been shredded and recycled.

Frigidaire

When I was working at a Hi-Rise down in Miami, we installed about 60 of these around the building.  They all failed within 120 days.  Seems the first revision of these machines didn't have the metal heat shield protecting the lower wash arm.  The heating element would gradually bake it until it was brittle enough to break the end off during a wash cycle.  Forcing hot wash water underneath the door flooding the kitchen.  We pulled them all and replaced them with GE units.

Yeah, I've seen White-Westinghouse units with the heat shields retrofitted on the plastic wash arms, and even then, the plastic was partially melted on the arm itself--stay classy, WCI.

I always wondered how the soil separators worked on these units--it looked tacked on top of the old filterless pump system that these used to have back-when.  I'm guessing not very well?
