Thanks for sharing Ben, I just picked the exact Amana Gas dryer yesterday that your Dad has, I grabbed it to rob the gas burner parts out of to convert another one of the many used SQ Electric dryers we got last year to gas.
It looks like you should reverse the door on your dads dryer to make it easier for him to use, other wise it looks like he is in good shape appliance wise.

He's set in his ways on that. I agree, it needs reversed. But the only thing he directed me to do was set the water level up in the SQ.
I took it upon myself to level it out, I told him but he just said ok, if you're bored...........which I wasn't. I just wanted it done right so as to maximize the longevity of the SQ.
I just now noticed some jackwagon bent the access panel to the Ruud when he had it serviced. Nice. One thing I can say is finding a decent contractor in the treasure coast in any business is like finding a 4 leaf clover.

It's always fun to see someone else's appliances! Thanks for posting them, Ben. How new is the KitchenAid dishwasher? How do you like it in comparison to your GE? And that washer sure looks familiar...

is the same as the one I had save for the hidden controls. He uses Finish tabs with great success. It washes perfectly. Told him FIX it, fix it, fix it 'till it cannot be fixed no more. As of this writing, he's ordering a lower rack. Some tins have rust on them. He got it in 2002, right after they moved in and the in place Kennmore did the hunky funky and gave up the ghost. That makes it 12 years old with no repairs. Pretty impressive eh?
Yes, after spending days on end sans power courtesy of Francis, Jeanne, and Wilma, dad said screw it, he's NOT gonna drink warm beer ever again during a hurricane! It self starts once weekly has a massive v twin engine that looked like it was lifted off a Harley Electra glide. It will run the entire house, A/C included.
He's even happier with the SQ now that I raised the water level. He's totally old school, EVERYTHING gets a second rinse. EVERYTHING! He uses the lo suds A&H religiously and does not over do it but that extra rinse switch says in the on position. He buys A&H at BJs. And nothing else. Unlike me and Frig, he does not vary on detergent. I do know he hates Tide because it makes him break out.
Except the couple of times I used it! Shhhhhhhhhh this is a secret. If I forget to set it back, boy do I ever hear about it.
Now if only he'd quit calling me 3x a week about some stupid toolbar that he installed by mistake..................

Nice setup!!!Like the genset--but please note---In areas that have "underground" or URD service---drive or walk the route and you will find---the URD service is fed from a fused pole drop. Just about all of them in most residentual areas are like this.URD--Underground Residentual Distribution.So--the power is above ground on pole at some point.Just becuase it is underground or above-both can give reliable service.In hurricane territory a genset is a wise choice.Like the sheltered carport clothesline-at least sheltered from rain,birds.Like how the washer now fills to the top row of holes in its drum.Like your Dads old school approaches-mine is the same way!
