Daewoo Talking Washer

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

But does it understand, "Tea, Earl Gray please."...?

And does it also talk to you, e.g. "Hi, Jim. Your load of ...underwear... will be finished in ...forty-five... minutes."

This could get interesting when you have guests over. "Hello Bob, this is your washing machine speaking. According to my soil sensors, the cat poo on your bed spread will take an additional ...thirty... minutes to remove and sanitize...."

Then come the error messages. "Jim, I need your help. I have too many suds, please come in and press and hold down the Extra Rinse button for thirty seconds..."

Washboy, it gets better from there. Let's say you've installed it in the kitchen. You're washing clothes whilst cooking some food, and you spill something on the floor and say "Oh sh--!" The washer hears you and says, "Activating sanitize cycle, one moment please...."

What would be really funny is if the rest of your kitchen appliances learn to talk and use voice recognition. Imagine the goofy "conversations" that would result.

I think that would make an interesting performance-art piece, to set up a simulated (but fully working) Kitchen Of The Future, full of talking & speech-recognizing appliances, and let the audience come through and try to start "conversations" between them. (In fact this could be simulated nicely in a nonworking kitchen installation, using computer speech recognition & synthesis modules installed in each unit but not hooked up to the controls.) Room acoustics and ambient machine noises will contribute to the fun...
