Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Looks like a made in China dishwasher. Ive seen this one in a few stores here in Australia, usually wearing some nondescript generic brandname and selling for less than $500 AUD.

Yuk.

Doesnt Gorenje make dishwashers?

Gorenje appliances, while affordable, never look tacky, its a shame some importer doesnt do a whole line in Gorenje, whether here is Aus or the US. They appear to be making an advertising push in the UK.

Hey,

That Danby dishwasher looks like the dishwashers Haier make for Baumatic over here in the UK. I've included a link below.

Arrooohhh and Louis,

Gorenje dishwashers are made by BSH; the dial models are made by Balay in Spain, which is the Spanish and "cheap-line" division of the BSH group (they also make BOL "Classixx" Bosch washing machines here in the UK), and the pushbutton models are the genuine Bosch dishwashers made in Germany.

BTW, Gorenje are trying to make a push in the UK, but browsing through online retailers it appears only 2 out of the hundereds out there only seem to sell Gorenje. However I believe Comet sells Gorenje cooking and cooling appliances, maybe they'll follow soon with laundry/dishwashing ranges.

OK, last week while lamenting over new dishwashers, I stumbled across a listing for a Kuppersbusch for $1550. Do you guys know anything of this company? They carry a full line of cooking appliances as well including a very cool induction wok cooktop and honeycomb radiant ceran units that can be arranged in any configuration. I sent for brochures which arrived yesterday and upon closer inspection, the dishwasher (just one model) looks to be a Bosch clone. Any other perspectives from across the pond?

Greg,

I'm not sure what exactly the relation is between BSH (Bosch und Siemens Hausgeräte GmbH), it's not listed as one of their companies like Gaggenau, Neff and Thermador. Küppersbusch (they lost the 'umlaut' somewhere in that big pond I guess) is a company that started with the production of stoves in 1875. They are big in heating technology and institutional kitchens. In the domestic appliances business they are well known in Germany and I think they have a good name. But I haven't seen a Küppersbusch appliance in years, overhere in the Netherlands you hardly see them.

Küppersbusch, according to their German website invented both the glass ceramic griddle and the ceramic induction wok cooktop. I don't know if the dishwasher is made in Germany or in the US, it seems logic that it would be made in the US and then $1550.- is a steep price for a dishwasher, especially because the Bosch dishwashers are cheaper. And you don't even see the control panel!

Danby Portable Dishwasher

Danby portable dishwashers are the exact same as Haier, so I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest they are made by the same factory. Local appliance dealer had them both in stock and side by side not only did they look alike from the outside, but inside as well. Have never seen a built in model so cannot comment.

FWIW the Danby portable offered features normally found on upscale European dishwashers. IIRC it had a heated rinse, SS interior, china and crystal settings, filters (no built in macerator), and other features. However compared to say a Kenmore 18 inch portable, the racks seemed flimsy and cheap. Also the plastic spray arms seemed very light weight and cheesy.

I've been eyeing one of their countertop models for a long time at the Mart, only $99 there! We have a couple of estate sales to attend today and unless there's some treasure approaching that dollar amount ;-) we might pick one up on the way home just for kicks. I inspected the door & window the other day and it seems like you could remove the darker, outer panel for better interior viewing and/or illuminate the interior.
