does anyone here in this fine club have a Danby TT with a lid on the wash side that has a lid switch that stops the wash action

I think it is a later addition to models as mine does not have a switch

I got a comment on my youtube page asking where the switch is and if it can be overridden

B-u-u-u-a-a-a-h-h-h, ALL switches can be overridden. You'll recognize this quote. "The more they overthink the plumbing the easier it is to stop up the drain."

But from the land of almost no twintubs I can't tell you how on that model.

Probably a safety concern. Being an agitator instead of a swirlator, can give you a nasty bruise if you stick your hand in. Still wouldn't call for hospital, and you'd only do it once.

US toploaders are coming out with door locks too. Government and lawyers deciding what's good for you. Gimme a pair of snips and I can belay their benevolent intentions in less than a half hour.

I got one of these on order should be here soon. If anyone has a way to kill the lid switch please post. If not I will have to get out my magic screw driver and give it a look over.

How to turn off this ugly lid switch easy as pie.

First
remove the 6 screws around the panel.
Lift up panel
You will see the switch it is little and screwed to a metal tab

I removed the switch and using a cable tie tied it closed.

Then put the switch back where it was with its two screws.

Put panel back on and replace 6 screws

washer works with lid open

Is this is the last "Full Size" twin tub being made today?

Does anyone make them with metal tubs anymore?

Doing some looking around Lg Samsung still have them in parts of the world. Also I seen another company in China still makes many of them. But Danby is the only on selling to North America,.

What I like about this danby so far. No computer stuck in it total 100% old school. The timers are not electric at all they are spring driving, Wash timer has a switch in it like a rotatory phone that ever so many secs open closes to revers the washer.

Spinner timer has a basic on off switch on it being it is power free and spring driving it rocks.

Unit is nice so far I like it all the fill hose I can not use to short. But not a big deal just using a old hose to fill.

Mine came with a dent in the case but after the long backorder wait I can live with that.

One thing I found bad was the break cable was to thigh being new from factory it made me think how many return this washer over this. Easy fix remove back cover and adjust break cable.

I do wish it was metal tubs but plastic works ok. Just do not use water over 122F.

So far I love this washer for what it is easy fast and nice. Load size is great also.

I have a Danby twin tub as well....wish the agitation was faster back and forth action. It sorta drags the clothes through the water one way, then reverses and does the same the other way..kinda disappointed, as this is why I got the agitator model. Flimsy plastic construction, especially the lids.

Flimsy

I too felt that the Danby was a little flimsy, I had a 2007 model with the integrated lids. I did however enjoy it, and the wash action, while not what I was expecting (machine could probably have a pulsator in the bottom and work well), it did wash well. I still see the need to reprogram the GENTLE mode as it turns more one way than it does the other. Also if you barely hold the time during an agitation stroke the agitator will continue to spin in whatever direction, which is kinda neat to watch. I gave my DTT-420 to my mother who now has a Haier. It got a button in the pump and the piping is very delicate underneath, most being glued together. It was damaged new in shipping and has a huge dent and gash in it, it now sits in storage.

I still find it neat that a twin-tub is made still though, and I think they are competent machines nonetheless.

What I seen looking into the service door. It looks easy to fix something that could break. The pump in this one is held by 2 screws. It has hose clamps on it also. Some pipes are glued but seem to be pvc and strong.

My only thing how can I change the drain hose to short to reach my sink. Is this a slandered size? if so could I glue another hose to the one on it now?

I did find two things a little odd ball. The start capacitors just set in a holder they where not in them when I got this. But easy to fix they just set there.

Other thing the filter what ever it is called on the back tub wash side that can be removed is a pain to take off and put on. But is there a part missing or is this just me. Looks like there should be a red or color tab to help till how high the water is.

I only noticed it since there is a slot that could hold such a part.

Also not a fan of the wheels there ok but can not move it side to side. odd
