TS Edouard is supposed to hit near Port Arthur, if not hit us directly. They say it could become a hurricane before it hits. If it does, this will be three hits in three years.

Projections also show it hitting Houston the area. Even a tropical storm is dangerous. I hope everyone along the Louisiana and Texas coasts is prepared, be careful guys and try not to drive anywhere on Tuesday if it hits your area.

It looks like it'll pass south of you and landfall on Galveston Bay before coming in traveling NW to Austin and the Hill Country.
I don't think this one will be all that bad. Maybe some 50 mph winds and 4-5" of rain.
But this thing strengthened so quickly, I hope it doesn't turn into another TS Allison.

"much needed" is an understatement!

This is the worst Austin summer in quite a long time as far as too high heat and too little rain...even our ligustrums are shrivelling up and turning yellow...we're hoping we get a visit from ol' Eduorard or whatever his name is...whatever happened to good hurricane names like Carla and Beulah? ;-)

Anything would help

us here in Fort Worth rain or just break the heat anyway we win. 119 in the plant today.. just awful

whatever happened to good hurricane names like Carla

Carla's name was "retired" after the infamous storm of september, 1961. Based on estimates now, it was a Category 5 storm. Coverage from Galveston on Carla is what put Dan Rather on the map and catapulted him to network news career. Carla is why I don't like hurricanes anymore.

Well, the center of rotation - not quite an eye - is passing by me now. Looking at the radar it is just south of Port Arthur going over Sabine Pass. Power went out a couple of hours ago but my standby generator kicked in. The wind is pretty strong with some potent gusts. I'm glad its not a hurricane though.

I'm standing by my windows watching the show.

Yikes!

I hope the storm passes you by completely! Sounds like you're well-prepared though... Hope all is well.

Carla...

I'm old enough to remember Carla, just barely...grew up in Victoria...I was a toddler when Carla came through, and vividly remember my older brother carrying me up to the top of a ladder in the aftermath, so that I could see my dad up on the roof, replacing all the shingles that Carla had ripped off. We rode out the actual storm in Gonzales, with my uncle. He was a deputy at the time, and lived on the first floor of the old jail building, which was very old...wind was still 60 mph that far inland and blew through those old windows like they were open.

Beulah came when I was a bit older, I think we had 21" of rain, but not that much wind.

So they're saying the remnants of ol' Eddy are gonna come through this evening and tonight...we may get 40 mph wind gusts, and here's to having' some of that "much-needed" rain!

Well, its passing by, the winds are getting weaker. I'm going to open the office at 1pm - we still have power there. About 12,000 to 18,000 people are without power in this region, hopefully they can get it turned back on soon, but the power company's website estimates that power might be off for many people until the 9th.
