allergies etc

That's what I've been wondering about for a long time. There seems to have been an increase in the number of people having these allergies from scents etc yet products are getting stinkier every year.

A new thrift store much like our Value Village opened up a few months ago and yesterday I finally went in.. The over powering fragrance they're using in their hvac system was close to bringing tears to my eyes. All thrift stores like Goodwill Value VIllage etc use these systems to mask smells of used goods but this was over the top.

Sam's Dawn gallon jugs

FYI,,, after reading this I took a chance and ordered two gallon jugs of Dawn from Sam's club and at least for me is still the old formula..

Yes - Joy still smells like lemons (or other citrus fruits, depending on what variety you choose) - but it is no longer made by P&G.

Fun fact - I purchased the commercial version of Joy a few months back. The lemon scent was so minimal, that you could actually smell the chemicals underneath it. And truthfully, I greatly preferred it to what is currently on the market (especially Gain dishwashing liquid, which both the Mrs. and I find to be repulsive).

P&G seem to have done something similar to Ariel Liquid for laundry here. It used to smell just crisp and fresh and now it smells like some kind of weird combination of pineapple, bubble gum and flowers and it doesn’t fade. I find it absolutely stomach churning.

Probably won’t ever buy Ariel again tbh. Absolutely disgusting scent.

I don’t like overpowering scents like this and it’s becoming increasingly hard to find stuff that doesn’t stink.

Persil is slightly less gross, but still way too scented.

If I wanted to smell like a cheap car air freshener, I wouldn’t have bought one.

oily ducky...

Here in St. Pete, they continue to run that ridiculous commercial using Dawn to clean the oil off a baby duck...it disgusts me to think of what they put that little guy through to film that demonstration...I steer clear of Dawn, so many other choices.

I tried an experimentation this week and bought a bottle of Target’s knockoff of Dawn, Up&Up Ultra Antibacterial Dish Soap. What a mistake! This stuff is very thin and has a strong, not pleasant scent. I can hardly wait for it to run out, which shouldn’t take long cause you have to use so much, so I can replace it with old stand by Palmolive Original Ultra Dish Soap.

A warning to others, don’t buy the Target Up&Up Ultra dish soap, its crap!

@foraloysius would seventh generation dishsoap be included among other more natural soaps including Kirk's castile bar soap when it comes to being mild enough for wildlife affected by oil?
I personally try to go natural when choosing modern cleaning supplies.

The Illusion Of Choice
There are hundreds of consumer goods brands in our country and the vast majority of them are all owned and controlled by just a handful of mega-corporations. Even when you think you are buying natural products in many cases those natural companies have been absorbed by these giant corporations.

Here is an Article from NPR

About why Dawn is the best detergent to use to clean crude oil from birds. It’s basically because Dawn cuts the grease and removes it better than any other detergent. I believe that soap just wouldn’t remove the crude oil completely from these poor oil covered birds.

This article goes into the procedure that is used .
