Was down in the Village today, so popped into "K-Sears" to stock up on a few things. Picked up a few bottles of Downy "free" softener, and noticed the both the new packaging for Downy and the old were side by side for several varities. Being the good housekeeper and savvy shopper that I am, quickly compared prices and sizes. Guess what? The new bottles of Downy (the the funny flower shaped cap), have several ounces less product than the older versions. The new packaging contains about 34 fluid ounces, while the old has forty.

To be fair, P&G does call these new faces of Downy "Ultra", but to my eye and shaking the bottles, the new product didn't seem that much thicker than the older versions. So to sum up, it looks like P&G took out some of the water, but kept the product at the same price. Am sure P&G will say that the new Downy is more concentrated thus one can use less, but I'm not to sure. Also since I use such tiny amounts of the stuff am not sure I'd noticed the difference.

Oh yes, sniffed yet another new version of Downy, "Cashmere and Silk Fresh". Kind of smelled like expensive perfume. But as one has a huge jug of that Tide "lavender" laundry liquid yet to finish, there would be no more scented P&G products today.

I've just tried some last night and I find it has a rather pleasing fragrance. Reminds me of an actual perfume that I've smelled before. I also like that it does not seem to knock you over when you take whiff.
