I worked a mid shift at my workplace and got an hour of overtime from it-the setting back of the clocks.when I worked in the DC plant on the mid "time change" shift-I had to set all of the clocks in the broadcast studios.those nights did take longer-In the spring-the mid shift LOOSES an hr. your shift is then an hour shorter. The one hr goes to "leave" time.the night driving and all doesn't matter to me since I work at night-now I just wake up when its dark.A question--if we stay on the Day light Savings time schedules-how will the energy savings be affected by air conditioning??In Ben Franklins day(I guess when this started) we didn't have air conditioning. It just makes me wonder when I see my AC still chugging away on a 95+ degree day and it doesn't get dark until 9:00P.Sounds like an energy WASTE to me.Drather see LESS daylight during the summer.Save my electric bill.Lighting is nothing compared to the AC.I would think if we stuck to Standard time all year it might give those AC's in the summer a little break.

I know, when you lose one hour in April, you feel like you lose 5. And likewise when you turn back time. By the Way, How many of you were an hour early getting to work this morning?

"Traffic + stick-shift (manual transmission)"

In NYC?!

NOT!

I live in L.A., also a big No-No. 10 miniutes of driving in a stick shift car around here has me gritting my teeth. It;s already enough of a pain with an AUTOMATIC transmission driving in this town.

I imagine for you guys in big cities, that's the reason why manual transmissions have fallen out of favor. Me and another friend were walking through a new car show, and we saw some sports cars with automatics. WE couldn't fathom why anyone in their right mind would want an automatic in such sporty vehicles. While we haven't been faced with particularly bad traffic issues here in Richmond, the rest of the country living in big cities, especially DC to our north, and Norfolk to our east, are facing much much bigger transportion problems. Still, I like my SAAB, and my extremely unusual 5-speed Astro-van!

we have just gone the other way - we are heading into summer so I have just lost the hour of sleep that I won't get back till autumn. (yawn!)

RE manual transmissions: I only like manual trans and I like station wagons, a combination becoming harder to find. When I was searching for my current car a few years ago, I got sick of used car dealers looking at me like I was some sort of idiot. One guy abused me, "oh, you'll never find one, families with kids buy autos, that means women drive them and women don't like mucking around with changing gears..." Oh really? my mother and two sisters also only drive manuals. I eventually found a great Mitsubishi Magna manual wagon, but it has now done 285000 km so I have started the search for a replacement. I have been getting the same BS again, I am considering just hanging on to the dear old car because searching for a manual replacement when I live so far from any sizeable cities means it is too much of a pain. I have been doing net searches and consistently get "no matches", if I change to slushbox I have no end of choice...

Not affected anymore

Ever since I moved to Phoenix 5 years ago, I haven't had to worry about changing my clocks over.

The first couple of years were kinda of weird for me. It's like my internal clock knew the time had changed and it made me want to change my clock.

Here in Arizona there is NO daylight savings.....really great not having to switch all the clocks....just have to remember that now not on same time with California and East Coast only 2 rather than 3 hours ahead.....

Farmers cried long and hard to their elected representatives and had the DLST extension cut back from the proposed one month extension in the spring and fall. The farmers say that the cows are not ready to be milked in the dark.
Well, milk them when the sun comes up.
AH! We can't do that because we have to be at our other jobs in town by that time.
So, you are not a full time farmer?
Well, of course, when it comes to getting agricultural subsidies and not wanting DLST, but with my other job, no.

As far as the computer people saying it will be too much of a hassle to change the time on computers, they are full of it. Any number of times a month, Microsoft has an update for me. You can't tell me that changing the clock in computers is such a great task that we should be stuck with the curent time period for DLST. I have a weird clock radio with all sorts of programming that makes it impossible for me to use as a wake up device, but it sets itself automatically from the atomic clock in a big lab somewhere and, sure enough, it did. I watched it go from 1:59AM to 1:00AM.

I don't know what it is....

But my perception is opposite of what it should be, I think.

Whenever we roll back the time, and night time "starts earlier", to me, the day in its entirety becomes MUCH LONGER.

I don't know why that is, you would think the sensation would be that the days seem shorter and seem to fly by faster. But my perception is that the entire day--and night--seem to be longer.

Does anyone else have this odd perception? My wife feels the same way.

I'm in agreement with standard time.. I love it... It simplfies life and makes time seem more precious.
Christmas is just a stones throw. I'm getting chills just thinking of it.

I like Central Standard Time, mainly because you can party hard when it's dark and pull an "all-nighter"! But that's a different story...;-)

I can't wait to "step into Christmas" when December rolls around...Christmas has been my favorite holiday for a LONG time (of course when is Christmas NOT anyone's favorite holiday?). Great time to crank up the heat when it's cold and really appreciate the steam from the hot-water washes, not to mention all the presents! :)

I would rather have extreme cold than extreme heat, but honestly, I would take a tropical/beach climate any day! One of the reasons why I plan on moving out to California after college and graduate school, depending on what I end up doing! A friend (from school and work) visited San Diego and made their way to LA in early September, and she said the weather had already started getting cooler and more "breezy" by then...nice! Jaune, how is it out there now?

I can also say there's good "winter food" as well...hot chili is one of my favorites!

started work at maccas at 7 instead of 8 & only got 2 hours sleep!

I would like to meet whoever invented daylight savings :-(

We had a nice little chill come through last week but now we're getting into the high 70s again. Come on cold weather! I can't wait to flick the thermostat over to "heat".

The holidays has started. WOOHOO!!!!! YAY!!!
