DD washer making noise as it ramps up

Hey all, was working on my 90 series when it developed this noise. Any suggestions?

Sounds like it could be the tub drive block too. If it works, I wouldn’t worry too much about it plus these machines are easy to work on when a problem does arise.

Tub Drive Block

Usually when the tub drive block begins to fail, at least from my experience, it would make this noise at the end of the spin cycle when the brake engages. The spin tube and basket drive would stop with the brake, and the tub would continue to spin on the basket drive block. My Kenmore Elite Catalyst has begun to have this issue, and I plan to replace it in the spring when it’s unwinterized. Just my thoughts though.

The ears on the spin tube typically are also worn with the drive block problem, requiring it and the drive block both be replaced.  The longer the machine is allowed to operate with the problem, the more likely the ears will be damaged if they aren't at beginning of the situation.
