Hey,

The motor on my 1970 Halo Heat DE306 just crapped out last night. I'm pretty sure Dave (Volvoguy87) probably did it on purpose because he wants a dryer with a lighted display. :) It now just hums when you turn it on, and it's impossible to turn the wheel from it. Does anyone have a motor lying around that they'd like to stop tripping over? I'd really like to keep the dryer in service, and keep the matched set.

Update.

I am back in Manassas for a few weeks. We removed the motor and it was siezed up in a funny way. You could turn the shaft about 1/16 of an inch freely then it would jam. We pried the ends off the motor and soaked the bearings with Zoom Spout Turbine Oil (My new best friend) and freed up the bearings. We put the ends back on the motor, reinstalled it, and it is running again. I don't know how long it will last or why it failed so a spare motor might be good to have. We are interested in obtaining one.

Happily dry,
Dave
