I just bought a working DE606 Maytag Dryer, though it isn't wired in yet in my basement.

DE606, series 01, # 314430 WW

Can someone tell me the age? I believe it's the last of the Halo Of Heat series, true?
The center dial is not a timer, per se, but you choose Air or Damp or PermaPress or Regular, then I guess the sensors for dampness all kick in.
It ran at the sellers house for 3 minutes, I siad I'll buy, that's all I know and it will take a few days to run the 10 gouge 30amp circiut, I just can't wait to find out about the new dryer!

It's (almost) a match to my A608 washer, close enough for me. Are both of these nearly TOL? I believe the only upper scale ones from that era of Maytag were the Pushbutton only type, can someone confirm?

Pictures of both will follow once it's wired and running.
Thanks, Mark

Yes

1 step down from TOL. The dryer functions the same as an 806/906, just without and console and drum light.

806/906 are both considered TOL. The 806 has much more flexibility, while the 906 basically does the thinking for you.

Mid Range...

You beat me to this Dan :)

In the dryer line, this is the 3rd from the top. Basically an 806 without the lights as I gather. There are 2 more above it, the 806 and the push-button 906.

The washer is the middle of the line large-cap machine. Just under the 806. It's my personal opinion that the 606/8 was one of the more popular models, I've seen far many more of them than the 806's. 2 speed, 4 water levels, warm rinse option and a soak cycle.

HOH with the gold panel would have marked it as being a very late one.

The 606 pair would be my pick for HOH combination and the 409 washer / 408 dryer would be my pick on the newer generation models. The 409 dryer is the most versatile dryer IMO.
