Hello! I'm a newbie to the forum and this is my first post. I've read through about 50 posts but I cannot find the answer to my question.
When I purchased my home in February the previous owners left behind a Maytag set (although not the same model/year). The dryer is a DE700 and the washer (I think) is a 745G??
Anyway, this morning I was drying a load of laundry and I heard a loud banging sound coming from the dryer. When I opened the dryer door I found the three pieces of the lint filter trap clanging around inside the drum.
So, I put the innermost "plastic-looking, wide-holed, clip screen" back in place first. Then I put the fine-holed metal mesh screen onto the connector of the "plastic-looking basket" and pressed them back onto the rotating knob as far as possible.
I thought that was the end of it because that should be the normal course of action after cleaning the lint from behind the lint filter trap. Well, five minutes later the metal screen and outside basket fell off again - and again.
The outside basket has all the "prongs" to connect it to the rotating knob and everything looks to be in great shape.
Can anyone out there give me some advice on how to re-install the three pieces of the lint filter after you clean the trap???
Thank you for your time!!
