MDE5500AYW - Maytag Neptune Dryer - Part info needed

Hi All!

When I sold appliances, one of the parts distributors had a part kit available from I thought FSP or Whirlpool that had the belt, the idler pulley, the roller bearings and retaining clips as one kit. I can't remember the number and the old catalogs that I have access to don't have it listed.

I'm thinking of ordering this link for my customer but am wanting to make sure this is going to have the right belt in it because you know the accuracy of Amazon things:

That Amazon kit looks like it would be the correct thing for the dryer models listed.

If you were to buy this Amazon kit and install it in a Maytag dryer you’d be lucky if the machine lasted a year. All of those parts are junk. A dryer would never need all of those parts. I don’t replace a shaft for a roller in a dryer every five years working on them every day and when you install all those imitation parts you just destroy and otherwise good machine.

If you have a dryer, that’s getting noisy, etc.. Take it apart see what’s needed. Get the genuine parts needed and reassemble, clean and oil, etc. and you’ll get many years of use out of the dryer, but to waste hours of time riveting those front slides in replacing the rear roller shafts is a waste of time you’ll probably ruin the dryer. It won’t run any better.

More likely problems with an older dryer are heating elements front and rear seals the motor itself the blower comes loose on the motor sometimes then of course you’ve got the thermostat and the timer putting this type of kit in is not going to help the dryer much and likely will just be the death of it.

The dryer hasn't had anything changed on it since 2007, the rollers have build up. the idler pulley has buildup and the belt tore.

I think the kit we used to get may have been supco, but I'm waiting for one of the techs to message me back. I can't remember what it was.. but it was cheaper buying the kit instead of buying all the parts separately, even if we didn't use the parts.

If you don't want the original because it's to expensive, googling the OEM number results in parts as low as 17$.
Though I don't know if that retaining clip you mentioned is included...
