Dead Bosch Max WFL2260

Hello Guys... not sure if you can help with this one?! My friends Bosch WFL2260 (1100 spin) has just stopped working. It was found yesterday half way through a cycle with the Active light flashing - we emptied the clothes out as it would not do anything - now when you set a programme and press start, the "active" light comes on but not much else seems to happen - any ideas?

Is it worth fixing?

Hmmm Thats very strange indeed! I had this exact machine a few years ago! The Active Light on mine did flash on occasion, however it was in need of a new PCB so maybe they could be related problems! PCB's were very expensive when mine needed one, hopefully they've come down in price, If not its probably best to get rid !

Hi Chris. The flashing active light indicates that water is not reaching the machine. Possible causes include; the water tap not being turned on, the inlet hose being kinked, or the strainer in the inlet hose being blocked. If none of these turns out to be the problem, I would suggest that one of the solenoid valves has failed.

Does the machine work on a spin only, or drain programme?

Worst case scenario is that the electronics are at fault, but these tend to be very reliable on Bosch machines so I doubt this is the problem.

Hi Chris, I would still check the inlet hoses etc. before coming to that conclusion.

Another thing I can suggest is unplugging the machine from the mains for a few minutes (maybe longer) to clear the electronics' 'memory'. Then try the spin only and drain cycles again.

It would be a shame to throw away a machine for what's possibly a minor fault.

Hi Chris,
I would suggest you try Tom's suggestion of checking the hoses and unplugging the machine for a while. Also check the Motor brushes for wear as failed brushes can cause the symptoms you describe. The PCB's in Bosch washers are generally very reliable but like anything electronic they can fail.

Looks like it's Bosch engineer time then I'm afraid. It wouldn't do it any harm to leave it unplugged overnight and try again in the morning.

bit of an update - went to unplumb it and thought id give it one more go! The pump has started working, and it fills with water but no motor action. Tried the spin setting, and it drains but drum wont turn

still PCB??

Motor Brushes

Hi Chris,
Are you sure the Motor Brushes are OK? It could be the PCB but it's more likely to be the Brushes; please take the Motor out of the machine and make sure the Brushes are OK before you buy a new PCB.

I had an Siemens washing machine that i have some videos of on Youtube.

Anyway, mine id the exact the same thing as yours chrisbsuk. It turned out the PCB was blown in my machine. BUT i did check the motor brushes at first.

Mine machine did a horrifying loud spin the last times before it went dead. I thought the machine was going to leave the place! Also there was some burned smell the last wash, before it broke.
