My phone died yesterday, just up and quit with a few sputters. Really frustrating. Had it just about 2 years. Was set to buy another and came across an web page with dozens of folks having the exact same issue as I have all happening in the same time frame. Wow. In case anyone here has an LG G4 that just stops working suddenly, call LG and complain, they are "repairing' my phone out of warranty. Issue is it will be 2 weeks turnaround time. Very hard to function in this world without a smart phone any more. Most of my business calls come in on that line not to mention texts and email that I need during the day.

Yikes! Two weeks is a long time to be without a phone when you rely on it for business. I was without internet for 24 hours earlier this week during a move and I realized very quickly how reliant I am on it. Had to keep running to the office to use the internet at work.
I've said it often: No one has to attack the U.S. militarily to create mass chaos. Just take out the internet and watch our economy and society go into a tailspin.
Good luck with your phone. Hope LG has a solid fix for the problem.

I am so sorry that happened to you!
A couple of work-arounds:
1) Nearly all companies now offer 'call-forwarding'. Some only do it through the phone itself, but it's at least worth asking - and maybe making that feature a go/no-go when choosing a provider.
2) I back up to a cloud every every night now. Seems excessive? How much of my business is tied to appointments and phone numbers I have saved on the phone but never really 'learned'? Probably the same very large number everyone else has.
I loved ALCATEL for years until the Fierce power button problem and their response to it.
Been happy with SAMSUNG ever since. All my friends with LG have been pleased with their customer service and it seems all of us are having problems with our phones these days - way too soon. Apple, of course, remains horrid as always.

I've had my Samsung for about 6 yrs., and it still works OK, but doesn't keep the charge very long. It's a flip phone, and I don't know what type I'll get when it quits. My first was a Kyocera, and the second and LG (which I hated).
I guess we can't expect them to last as long as a Western Electric 2500 would!

go on ebay and order a new battery for your phone. That should give it a shot in the arm! After a few years of use these batteries start to wear out and they won't hold a charge as long.
I had a Smartphone for a few years and I hated it. Last year I went back to a flip phone and I'm much happier with it. I don't use a cell phone for texting, email or internet, so a basic flip phone works for me. I'm a hopeless dinasor when it comes to cell phones. I only turn it on when I'm away from home, for emergency purposes, otherwise its off. And I don't give out the number, unless there is a real need for the party to have it. I don't have a need to be connected 24/7. its nice to have some solitude.

It's not a helpful suggestion for you at this point but I have always had a backup phone. I kept my Nokia when I got my first iPhone. Now my iPhone 5 sits as a ready backup for my current phone. It helps having a carrier that uses a SIM card so a phone swap takes only a min.
Can you find a suitable spare on a local CL? Of course if you have to deal with the carrier to swap the phone that is a pain. It does seem to me that the carrier should provide you a loaner though.

I borrowed a junk Kyrocera Wave from a cousin. It will keep me functional while I wait and decide if I want to go for a new phone. Luckily it could be easily unlocked and my T-mobile SIM card popped in, so no extra charges for a pay as you go phone. I'm giving serious thought to an LG G5 not sure if I want used or to pay a bit more for new.
Had to laugh. LG gave me a prepaid shipping label for Fed Ex. I took it in today and asked when it might arrive in TX for repair, told Thursday! wow Fed Ex is slow, mail might be faster. Asked how much to get it there Monday -- $98!!!!! insane!

My S3 would just suddenly die or reboot and it was the battery, after all its over 5 years old. They have user replaceable batteries and I got new slightly higher capacity battery on Amazon prime for like 10 bucks. Phone holds a charge about 2 days on standby now and doesn't just randomly reboot under heavy loads anymore. I wanted a nice new phone but prices are stupid high now so decided just to fix it and wait for a deal and extra toy money.
I hate those supposed deals where they charge you to basically rent a new phone or 700 bucks to buy it outright. Back in the day they used to GIVE you a phone because they knew they'd make their money back on the contract for services for two years.
I paid 115 bucks for my S3 with a upgrade discount and they gave me a nice case and a decent family data plan at the time in late summer of 2012.
Been watching for a deal on decent refurbed S7 lately, sometimes you can find good phones pretty cheap that way.

I'm glad to say that my cellphone is still going strong, though the battery life is diminishing. It's a good old Nokia 3410. No Internet, no 'cloud', just makes calls and sends texts... Just what I want from a 'phone.

*Rarely* use Internet browsing on my phone. Why do that when I have a nice 24" wide-screen computer monitor? Occasionally the thermostat app for work but prefer iPad's larger screen or the web interface. I wouldn't have an iPad except Debbie gave me her hubby's "old" one, and I do use it for Pandora and sometimes an alarm clock. Wouldn't have an iPhone except was force-fed Debbie's when she upgraded.
The phone I'm using temporarily is a dog, and that is an insult to dogs. If this was anyone's first experience with a smart phone I can see why they'd be turned off. SLOW is an understatement, tap and icon and then tap your foot waiting for the unit to respond. My new phone can't get here soon enough.
Interesting how differing opinions are on smart phones, me - I could not easily live with out one. I use it all the time for many things. I do prefer my big screen computer to browsing, but if I need a quick answer, directions, or even a joke the thing is in my pocket and ready with whatever info I want or need. Who could ask for more...

While I could live without, I wouldn't choose to do so on a bet. I keep a spare phone synced with my primary phone as a backup just in case. Thankfully I have never needed it.
For work and everyday life the phone is used frequently. Having the Internet, voice, email and text communications, a calendar, work specific apps, a quality scientific calculator (with no = key dammit!) and a camera at my fingertips has become indispensable.
Sure I could get by, but like everything else why would you want to? No different then electricity, refrigeration, indoor plumbing or many other modern conveniences that we'd never choose willingly to be without.

I have an ATT standard Pantech Link phone from 2011 that's still going strong. It looks like a Blackberry. I'm about to replace the battery but it's otherwise a wonderful little phone. I tell people, "it's intelligent but it ain't smart". It will access the Net if I need for it to. Tony's phone is a Pantech Ease. It's been a good phone but not quite as durable as mine since it's a slider and mine is a bar. I found a brand new Pantech Link on ebay a few months ago and bought it to have for a spare when and if mine dies. He had an LG phone several years ago that developed a problem with the charging plug-in port and we found out it was a common failure of those phones.
Vanderbilt invested mucho buckos to purchase I-phones for us to use while at work. They have been specially modified to link to the nurse call system. We can also text each other while there but that's it. It won't get on facebook or surf the internet. I've gotten used to them but I still don't want one for my use at home. I don't want to be one of "those" people who can't go more than 5 minutes without looking at their phone or watching a video or playing a game. After working in a hospital where phones ring 24/7 I can't stand to even hear my phone ring. It stays on vibrate 99% of the time unless I'm on call. It makes me angry to hear it ring when I'm home. I guess I have finally become obsolete.

Bought an unlocked LG G5, might have been a mistake. Find it will not do WiFi calling as it's "unlocked" and only branded T- Mobile and other carrier phones will use WiFi calling - something I use a lot.
Other than that I really like the phone, great feel and seems like a quality build in metal. I have a 30 day return option, my G4 will be back here next week, so I may take my time looking. I definitely want a G5, I avoid phones with non- removable batteries, and I bought the camera add on that give a true shutter button and other camera like options, like a scrolling zoom wheel. The one thing I like about it is the color, titan, is kind of a dark grayish color rather than the silver and gold options. Titan seem to be rare in a T-Mobile device.
