Never heard of this vac but am interested in learning more. The fun thing about this is the bracket that mounts on the wall to hang the hose and wand. It has the "Lewyt" logo on the top. Works like a charm, in great shape. Suggeston for paper bags??

Lewyt big Wheel
Lewyt was a rather popular canister in the 50's, and that big wheel design is from maybe 1955?
I'm not the Lewyt expert, but do know they were very nice machines and held up well.
If you search ebay under "lewyt vacuum" you'll find lots of ads and even a machine here or there.

i believe that it model 97! I have bags for it, tons actually but they are bojac Glamorene brand. I can send you some if you like. I have been looking for one of those brackets for sometime now but always get outbid on ebay when i see them. Have not had to good fortune to run across one in real life. You know, i was just talking to a friend of mine who told me todays Dennis the Menace featured a vacuum and i told him that Hank Ketchman sometime used his rendering of real vacuums in his comic strip because along with uprights and tank cleaners, Alice Mitchell(Dennis' mom)was once showed using a big wheel! It is from the late 50's as Jeff said, 1956 or 57 somewhere around there.

That Lewyt is actually a model 77. It was the first big wheel introduced in 1955. I have one too, and it has the optional tool caddy which clips onto the back. I see yours has it too. I am certainly envious of that hose hanger. Looks like a great find!

Evan, The vacuum looks really like my 97 but now that you mention the tool caddy it does look different! On mine the attachment holder is already connected to the bottom of the machine. It holds only three tools though. Marty

I went digging around the storage unit today and grabbed a bunch of lewyt bags. They are bojack Glamorene labeled but will fit your Big Wheel! Marty
