Fedders and Oasis

I have a 10 yr old Hampton Bay/Fedders. Noisy but works well. I took it apart and did my own "modifications". Quieter now but you know its running. Sucks water out of the air like you wouldn't believe. For removing water, it is fabulous.
I bought a 1950's OASIS dehumidifer for $8.00 at the Salvation Army. Quiet as can be. Really quiet.
Hey fellas - how 'bout FRIEDRICH? Does anyone own one of those? Their stuff is very good.

87% humidity here and it sounds like subway cars are rolling through my basement....

Looks like it's time to spend MORE money on a new(er) dehumidifier (either the Frigidaire or the DeLonghi mentioned earlier, I guess)...

The worst part is the Kenmore one looks showroom new....

Sears is NOT endearing themselves to me these days, with the cannibalization of their products or their prices...
