Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

Radion was discontinued in the early 2000s, Radion "Sunfresh" became Surf "Sunfresh", and Radion disappeared, totally.

Radion was relaunched in the past year, apparently by a different company. I presume Lever Brothers flogged the brand to the highest bidder, much like how they got rid of UK "Vim" scouring powder to manufacturer Guaber.

1999 Is The Year Lever Bros/Unilever

Decided to pull the plug on Radion, so it may have taken until early 2000 for production to truly cease, product to vanish from shelves, etc...

Surf in the United States was sold off by Unilver to IIRC Huish who makes the product for the new owners Sun Products, or something like that. Know the former makes the stuff whilst the latter owns the brand name.

Even though one has several open boxes of detergent already opened am that eager to try the stuff may crack open a box.

Launderess

The UK Radion of the 1990s had a lovely soapy "bubblegum" fragrance. Does the Surf version smell the same?

I Resent The Fact You Assume One Would Know What Bubblegum I

Much less what sort of scent it has! *LOL*

Now that you mention it was trying to figure out yesterday just what the stuff smelled like and have to say "bubblegum/sweet" does cover it nicely.

Naturally...

...Madam would not be expected to know what bubblegum is - one is, of course, a cut above the riff-raff!

I do miss that fragrance. Nowadays, everything seems to smell of geraniums, lemons, cinnamon, or some combination thereof.
